Hello lovelies! Welcome back to another wonderful #TutuTuesday on www.pink-tutu.com! Isn't it lovely to see another Tuesday dawning? I always feel so chirpy when Tuesday arrives, it means another trip in the time machine and another chance to learn more about the history of our beloved tutus!

Today's journey is taking us right back to May 18th, 1880! I do love a trip to the past, especially with the weather as glorious as it is today! (Speaking of the weather, wouldn't it just be lovely to go for a walk through the Parisienne gardens in this fabulous pink tutu I've picked out today? I do adore the way the sun shines through the silk! What do you lovelies think?)

So, where were we in 1880?

This is when the "classical tutu," the one we associate with the most beautiful ballet productions today, really began to take its place on the stage! Oh, I adore a classic tutu!

You see, back in the day, ballerinas used to wear all sorts of bulky and restrictive garments, imagine! Imagine wearing yards of silk, satin and all sorts of fabrics to perform on stage! Think about how much less movement there would have been! Such a shame for the wonderful talent of these dancers! I'm so thankful we can now see these dancers soaring through the air with such elegance! We should all take a bow for the development of the tutu, it's simply wonderful!

Thankfully, back in 1880, this was all starting to change. You see, with the development of new materials like tulle, our amazing dance outfits started getting so much lighter! The beauty of it, I just can't say enough! The way it looks as it catches the light on stage, absolutely divine!

Not only was the tutu becoming a whole lot lighter, but also much, much shorter! And when I say shorter, I mean significantly shorter! Imagine, our amazing dancers were moving in a much more graceful way. Just imagine it - they were starting to be able to really leap and bound and soar, without that pesky material getting in the way! Isn't it lovely how things develop!

What was happening in the world of ballet in 1880? Well, my favourite! The Russian Ballet! Yes, it was really starting to gain its popularity around this time. Just imagine, with all the lovely lightness of their moves, it was no surprise they were taking the world by storm! And who could forget the beautiful artistry of their productions? It's truly enchanting.

Oh, and speaking of amazing ballerinas, the divine Anna Pavlova was starting to make her mark in the world of dance. Can you imagine? A ballerina who was just about to enter the ballet scene? Such a truly lovely time! You really had to have been there, darlings! It really was the time to be living in the world of dance! It’s truly one of my favourite periods to travel back to for all its dancing magic!

To get back to this delightful 1880s Paris (one of my most favourite places in the whole world to be, just for a little fashionista escape!) there was this lovely event, a delightful ballet production of Giselle. Yes, one of my absolute favourite ballet stories of all time, with its beautiful romance, ghostly story, and of course the elegant movement!

After all this history chat, it wouldn’t be #TutuTuesday without a visit to the best places for ballet tutus. And here in the beautiful city of Paris (just hop onto the Eurostar, it really is the most enjoyable way to travel!), I just have to visit the atelier of M. Gustave Charlier. This wonderful man! Such a genius, a total visionary in tutu design! Do check out his creations, ladies! It truly is an experience.

So that was another incredible #TutuTuesday, filled with tutus, ballet, Paris, and travel! Thank you for joining me in this delightful trip through time! Be sure to check back next Tuesday for a whole new journey!

And don't forget, don't be afraid to wear pink! Wear a tutu! After all, if you can't live your dreams, what is the point, right?

Until next time, darling! Keep your tutus high!
