Hello darlings, and welcome to another thrilling instalment of Pink Tutu Sparkles’ adventures! Today we're jet-setting, no, galloping (well, maybe it's more of a slow trot...!), right into the heart of Essex, to the fabulous town of Barking! It's a real delight to be in this lovely, energetic place for #BlogPost9404. As always, my mission, should I choose to accept it (and of course I do!), is to spread the joy of pink tutus far and wide. This, I hope, will involve some incredible performances and perhaps a spot of shopping in this town's trendy high street – although finding pink tutus in the bargain bins is always a bit of a mission.
This whole adventure started with a whimper (and maybe a squeak, my stiletto heels do get rather loud sometimes!) - travelling by train from my Derbyshire digs to the bustling capital. Let me tell you, there's nothing like watching the scenery go by in a shimmering pink tutu, sending little old ladies into a tizzy. It's a life worth living, I can assure you!
But before I get ahead of myself and reveal all the pink-tastic shenanigans that have been happening (you're gonna love what I've planned), allow me to regale you with a tale about the beginnings of Pink Tutu Sparkles!
As you know, deep down, I'm just a regular gal with a passion for all things pink and a love for swirling fabrics – who would have thought I was ever a scientist in a lab, surrounded by petri dishes and beakers? It all started when I was at university studying science – boring, I know! However, when I stumbled into the uni’s ballet club, my world changed forever! I was immediately drawn to the vibrant costumes and the captivating world of movement, especially those graceful pirouettes that seem to defy gravity! One day, a charity event called for volunteers to wear pink tutus to raise awareness for breast cancer. Honestly, I can't believe I resisted the pink tutu for so long! I mean, where have I been all my life? That day I was smitten and knew that wearing pink tutus should be my calling.
That little spark, darling, ignited a fire that burns brighter than a thousand neon lights! Ever since that day, the world has felt a little less boring, a lot more glamorous, and oh so much more sparkly, all thanks to those fluffy layers of pink! I left the lab coat behind for a more flamboyant garment – and I'm never looking back!
But anyway, let’s get back to Barking! My trusty steed (yes, a horse, I do love to gallop) took me right to the centre of this amazing place, the main square where a vintage fair was in full swing! Oh, darling, the sights! I felt like I’d stepped straight out of a Jane Austen novel but with an added sprinkle of glitter. It was fabulous. It even had one of those adorable old fashioned wooden carousels!
The local council was fantastic and let me set up a stage in the heart of the vintage fair – the locals were obsessed with the pink tutus! We had a ball! It felt wonderful to share the joy of wearing a pink tutu with all these fabulous Essex folk. Everyone had such great attitudes and it really added a sparkle to my performance! Of course, as you know, I don’t only wear the pink tutu for its fashion aesthetic.
And oh darling, it's so important for everyone to realize how much power lies within wearing a pink tutu! As the great Karl Lagerfeld once said, "Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” Well, I say, "Wear a pink tutu and they remember the sparkle!.”
I wore a lovely shimmering pink tulle tutu paired with a sparkling top. It was absolutely perfect for a hot afternoon - the glitter was radiating sunshine vibes, making me feel confident and free. Even though I felt hot in the afternoon sunshine, it was absolutely worth it because it really added to the look. We even had the mayor of Barking take to the stage. She wore a wonderful vintage tutu that she said belonged to her grandmother and the two of us did a little dance for the delighted onlookers.
After that, the energy of the place felt electric – I had to catch my breath! The next performance was the highlight of the evening. It’s fair to say I really brought my best dance moves to the table (which wasn’t quite easy because, let’s be honest, with this dress there is a good chance of getting caught in the tutu as you dance!). As soon as the music hit the right note, it felt like all my cares disappeared, and my passion took over! The dance routine had elements of ballet and modern street dancing mixed with a touch of my signature “pink tutu twinkle”. I know, I’m amazing – even if I do say so myself!
Honestly, the whole evening was so uplifting and fun. The locals, so full of energy and charm, totally loved Pink Tutu Sparkles’ signature flamboyant approach to dance. They weren’t afraid to clap along and even do a little jig themselves. Of course, no performance is complete without a sparkly dress change.
After a whirlwind of sequins and swirls, I switched out of the ballet inspired tutu into something more theatrical – this outfit was inspired by the glamorous world of musical theater. It was so lovely seeing people taking photos of me! As I did a dramatic, twirling entrance onto the stage, I couldn’t resist grabbing some selfie time with the audience too! This, darling, is what Pink Tutu Sparkles is all about.
Before you even ask, yes, I also met the owner of the local pink tutu store while I was in Barking. He told me about all the different tutus and materials that they use. And we were just discussing all of the famous pink tutu dance productions – which got everyone around me in the store excited too! After my amazing night in Barking, I couldn’t help but spend the day in the lovely high street.
But enough about my life – I want to know, have you got a pink tutu ready for the occasion? No? Well, why not?! Join the Pink Tutu Revolution today. After all, in this beautiful world, who wouldn't want a little pink tutu sprinkle of joy?
