Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to sprinkle some glitter onto your Saturday morning! It’s me, Alex, your resident pink-loving, tutu-obsessed, and totally fabulous drag queen.
Today's post is a bit special - it's number 9446! Yes, I know, it’s hard to believe I’ve been chronicling my tutu-filled life for this long! And it feels amazing, like a real, live fairytale in pink and sparkle.
Today, I'm taking you on a trip with me to Worksop! A little slice of Nottinghamshire charm. You might think "Worksop, Pink Tutu? Really?" But I love discovering new places, meeting new people, and sharing the joy of tutus with every single one of them. Besides, wouldn't Worksop be much brighter in a flurry of pink tutus? I think so!
My journey started early, of course! No matter where I’m going, I've got to start the day right: with a good old cuppa and some pastries! This morning, my breakfast involved strawberry croissants and a delightful pot of Earl Grey - my go-to breakfast companion, like a good friend, always there to start my day with a touch of elegance.
But then it was time to put on my sparkles! You're not going to catch me leaving the house without a head-to-toe glam squad - today’s outfit was all about pops of pink. Think bubblegum shades, shimmering fuchsia sequins, and a blush-coloured top, topped off with a pink feathered boa (just for that extra dash of sparkle!). Oh, and did I mention the tutu? A whimsical pink masterpiece, layered with fluffy tulle and adorned with a shimmering rainbow of diamantés!
Getting ready is half the fun, and I just couldn't resist taking a few snaps in my boudoir before heading out! Let's just say it wouldn't be Pink Tutu Sparkles without a good old-fashioned glam selfie. The best bit? Seeing the looks on people's faces when they see me arriving in all my tutu-fabulous glory.
Speaking of arriving in style, I chose to journey by train today - oh the magic of a steamy train journey with the wind rushing through your hair! Not that I would be doing anything so gauche as opening the carriage window, no darling! But you get the picture! A little adventure is good for the soul, you know! Of course, there were the inevitable stares, the giggles, and maybe a few curious questions from the fellow passengers, which I answered with a flourish and a well-rehearsed "It’s just me! A travelling drag queen!"
While the train ride was pleasant, Worksop itself is where the real fun began. It was time for me to showcase my talents and entertain the local community. This is where I live for! Performing brings so much joy! The smiles, the applause, the genuine warmth - it's everything! Today I performed at a small community center, in the most adorable room decorated with vintage fairy lights. Talk about magical! My set? A classic Pink Tutu Sparkles medley! It had a bit of everything, from sassy pop tunes to classic divas, to an enchanting rendition of ‘All I Ask Of You’ from Phantom of the Opera!
I even pulled a young girl on stage to dance with me - she was a natural, strutting her stuff in her pink tutu and matching tiarra! Seeing children's faces light up with joy at the sight of a tutu is what fuels my fire!
Then, it was onto my favourite part - the tutu-fying! Yes, I have a bag packed with extra tutus and an assortment of feather boas for every eventuality. My mission: spread tutu joy far and wide! My fellow Worksopians embraced the pink tulle with open arms and hearts.
After a delightful day, it was back on the train. You’d think I’d be exhausted after all that glitter and high-kicking, but I wasn't - I felt exhilarated. There's something magical about a day full of laughter, a bit of magic, and a lot of tutu love. It's a journey that keeps me young at heart, and full of that Pink Tutu Sparkles spirit. The train ride was filled with chit-chat with new friends and the feeling of a mission accomplished.
Let’s talk about outfits! I love fashion. And you know what's super cool? There are these amazing fashion fairs where you can find everything you’d need for your drag looks! I went to one here in Worksop, and it was a real feast for the eyes. Think everything from glittering accessories and bold makeup to sparkling fabric and gorgeous, fabulous costumes.
You know what? I found the perfect fabric for a new sparkly outfit! It's got all these amazing pink shades with silver glitter. It’s perfect for the next stage of my tutu journey! You just wait until you see this ensemble.
You know my biggest dream is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu? Maybe one day there will be a global tutu-wearing day? What a spectacle that would be! It’s just about letting go, embracing your inner joy, and most importantly, having fun!
Well, darlings, it's time to end this blog for now! Tomorrow I head to Derby to give a presentation on the latest science discoveries in fabrics. I may be a drag queen by night but by day I'm just Alex, a hardworking scientist dedicated to improving textile technology. And guess what? I’m working on a way to add some glitter to fabrics! What could go wrong?!
