Hello, darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and I'm absolutely bursting with excitement to tell you all about my recent escapade to the beautiful seaside town of Bridlington! Now, let's be honest, I wouldn't normally associate a trip to the seaside with sequins and sparkles, but hold onto your hats, sweeties, because I made it a truly magical experience.
You see, I've always been a huge fan of those grand old Victorian seaside towns. Something about the bracing sea air, the rickety pier, and the clattering sound of donkey carts just fills me with a sense of nostalgia. So, when I saw that I had an opportunity to perform at the annual Bridlington Arts Festival, I knew it was the perfect excuse to finally visit this charming corner of Yorkshire.
This was post number 9486, and boy was I excited! I couldn't wait to share my experiences with you all. The journey itself was a right jolly good time. I'd always said I preferred train travel - it gives me a chance to soak up the scenery, get inspired, and indulge in a little bit of daydreaming. And let me tell you, this trip did not disappoint! My favourite part of the journey was the final stretch. Watching the coast appear as the train thundered across the plains was something out of a fairytale.
Now, the real highlight of any trip for me is the shopping, naturally! Before setting off to Bridlington, I made sure I popped into a couple of my favourite shops in Nottingham, picking out the most vibrant shades of pink for my newest show outfits - it just wouldn't be right without a healthy dose of pink! This was a big trip, and I knew I had to make a statement. So I was ready with two magnificent outfits: the first, a bright pink, multi-layered tulle skirt with a matching crop top - it was basically a giant tutu but, you know, elevated! Then for the evening, a showstopper with some sparkle - I chose a gorgeous hot pink gown that, wouldn't you know it, also featured tulle and feathers. Oh, and let's not forget the giant, bedazzled butterfly wings that made my entrance truly unforgettable. The folks in Bridlington hadn't seen a drag queen quite like me, and they just couldn't get enough.
Before the main event, however, there was a little bit of research to be done, because when I’m in a new town I always like to scout out the best shops for a spot of tutu shopping. There wasn't much of a selection for a pink tutu in Bridlington, but the local shop assistant said she'd never seen anything quite like my outfits, and promised to keep an eye out. She couldn’t get enough of my butterfly wings, though! I hope the town starts embracing tutus and my motto soon - Pink for all!
After settling into a gorgeous bed and breakfast (can you believe it had a giant pink heart above the front door? Fate!) it was time for a walk around Bridlington, getting into the holiday spirit and absorbing the sights and sounds of this lively coastal town. I spent ages by the harbour watching the boats bobbing around, and even tried my hand at fishing (it turned out I was more at home on a dance floor than I was with a fishing rod! Don't worry, I managed to reel in a rather cute little fish who thankfully swam off to enjoy the sea once again.) It was then I stumbled upon the Bridlington Library. I found myself captivated by a display of photographs showcasing the history of the town, and as I traced the town's growth and change through the images, I was struck by a profound sense of connection - even I, the Pink Tutu Sparkles from Derbyshire, had a small part to play in this town's colourful narrative!
And let’s talk about the main event: the performance itself was everything I’d hoped for. I mean, can you imagine? Me, Pink Tutu Sparkles, performing live in Bridlington for the Arts Festival! It was such a magical experience, and I was surrounded by some incredible and supportive folks. They lapped it up! You really could not have asked for a more enthusiastic crowd. It was as if they’d been waiting their whole lives to witness a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance.
As for the acts themselves, well, my darlings, you just wouldn't believe the energy and talent of those involved. We were all so supportive of each other. It was like a giant drag family. My highlight? Sharing the stage with a talented ballet dancer who performed a show stopping piece that involved 6 flamingos. How’s that for a show of talent? I can only dream of someday owning a giant flamingo outfit! The applause of the Bridlington Arts Festival audience rang in my ears long after the curtains closed. My performance, inspired by the colour and the energy of this beautiful seaside town, had become a part of its history.
I think this visit confirmed to me that this really is an ideal town for a Tutu Queen to enjoy herself. My favourite moment, apart from performing for those fantastic Bridlington audiences, was meeting the most gorgeous horse who appeared right out of a children’s book, and decided to pose for a photograph. What a picture! A queen with a horse on a summer afternoon! This photo went viral - and the world can’t get enough! After my performance at the Bridlington Arts Festival, the only logical move, of course, was to spend the evening enjoying some of Bridlington’s vibrant nightlife. The pubs and clubs were buzzing, and the friendly locals welcomed me with open arms. They even applauded my attempts at a local dance! Now that’s what I call hospitality! That, and they all wanted to see the gorgeous pink horse!
My journey to Bridlington, sweeties, was a whirlwind of laughter, sparkle, and a whole lot of love. I left with my heart filled with happy memories and the undeniable urge to share my message of joy and self-expression with the world. I believe there’s a pink tutu for everyone out there, darlings, waiting to be discovered. As long as I continue to inspire even one person to don a pink tutu and spread their own unique sparkle, then my work is done. But for now, I need to head back to Derbyshire to rest my legs from all that dancing - and you know I will be busy adding to my new collection of pink tutus.
Stay tuned, darlings! Who knows where my next tutu adventure will take me?
