Oh, Cambridge, how you tempt me! 👒 You are truly a dream destination, where history whispers through cobbled streets and the air buzzes with the thrill of learning. I must confess, it wasn’t just the academics that attracted me. This weekend was a tutu-licious mix of culture, fashion, and fun, with a sprinkling of, you guessed it… pink tutus! 🎀
This whole adventure started with my absolute fave – ballet. Ballet is life! 💖 Ballet is everything! The Cambridge Theatre, where the ballet stars were dancing, was breathtaking. They transported me into a world of twirling dreams! It was magical seeing them gracefully leap, so full of expression and beauty! The Royal Ballet has been my all-time inspiration for a good 20 years now - ever since I popped on my very first pink tutu for a charity fundraiser while studying for my science degree. Yes, that's right, me, Alex, the one you know as Pink Tutu Sparkles, the scientist by day, tutu-fied drag queen by night! It's not everyday that someone in a lab testing fabrics is also hitting the stage as Pink Tutu Sparkles, but honestly, what's more fun than a bit of sparkle and fluff in your life?! My life is a whirlwind of glitz and glam, mixed in with petri dishes and data analysis. Don't ask me to explain it, it's just, fabulous. 🤪
Cambridge didn't just provide top-notch ballet – it gave me the chance to indulge in the joy of exploring. I love trains! There is something special about gazing out of a window at the rolling countryside as the miles speed by – such a satisfyingly soothing, and rather dramatic way to get about, it’s a much nicer commute than a crowded, grimy bus!
Arriving in Cambridge, it felt as if I'd stepped into a postcard. The architecture was truly impressive! Every corner felt like a historical masterpiece – those glorious buildings… I had to take a hundred snaps, honestly! And let’s not forget about the beautiful river, the charming bridges… ahhh, it was so dreamy. 🌸
No trip is complete without shopping, and this trip was no exception! The streets were filled with charming boutiques. I snagged some of the most adorable pieces, each adding to my pink-tutu-centric wardrobe. You’ll see a peek of my fabulous finds on the next post! Speaking of exciting, I did a performance in a tiny but very cool venue that doubled as an art gallery! It’s fun to break from the routine of bigger, formal, concert venues every now and again - although, it's definitely an interesting change of pace from Cambridge’s more typical grand hall atmosphere, as seen at a recent university lecture I attended on, guess what, Tutus and Ballet History. Oh yes, the things I do in the name of my passion for tutu fashion and performance art! 🤭
To be honest, every bit of my trip felt like a glamorous performance! Imagine, strolling through streets where Newton himself had pondered… it was enough to spark inspiration for my own ballet-inspired performances. This city just thrives on inspiration and art, which explains why I was such a happy and inspired visitor.
Speaking of the happy things… oh, and I almost forgot, did I mention the chocolate shops? I mean, the amount of tempting treats that Cambridge threw my way was pretty impressive. I almost went full-on “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”! 🍫
As you can imagine, a visit to Cambridge leaves me feeling invigorated, energized and just full of pink-tutu joy! I know, you’re saying “we thought she was always full of pink tutu joy!”. And you know what, you’re absolutely right. It's the only way I know! Pink tutus are more than an outfit, my lovelies. They are an embodiment of joyful expression, self-love, and confidence! 👑
