Gateshead Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Flies North in Blog Post #9589

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad, glitter-loving, drag queen extraordinaire, Pink Tutu Sparkles! Today, I'm bringing you all the fabulous, glitzy, twirly goodness from my trip to Gateshead!

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Gateshead, Pink Tutu? Is that a new shade of pink? " Well, no dearies, it's just your beloved Sparkles on another fabulously glamorous adventure! As always, it's all about spreading that pink tutu love, and Gateshead, with its industrial heritage and vibrant cultural scene, seemed like the perfect place for a touch of sparkle!

As a queen, I simply cannot resist the siren call of a train journey. Something about those carriages, the whistle, the clacking of wheels... it screams "adventure!" to me. Plus, I have my travel ritual down to a tee - pink headphones for listening to my favourite musicals on repeat (I am obsessed with "Les Miserables" at the moment!), a delicious vegan pastie from the station cafe, and a well-stocked pink-tutu-themed tote bag, because you never know what you'll need to bring a touch of sparkle to the world!

Arriving at Gateshead felt like stepping into a time machine, with its magnificent Angel of the North statue, watching over everything like a majestic fairy godmother. It was straight into action! My first stop was the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. I'm not gonna lie, I felt a bit intimidated initially - it's not always your usual glitter and glamour territory. But, my dears, it was truly breathtaking! Massive, modern installations filled the building.

Now, this is where things get interesting! Think about those contemporary artists - aren't they just trailblazers of expression, pushing boundaries with colour, textures, and ideas? To me, it's like the art of drag itself! I love the sense of liberation both art forms share - embracing self-expression, creativity, and a touch of theatricality in every step!

I spent the rest of the day wandering through the Gateshead Quayside. Now, you might not expect a draq queen like me to be drawn to gritty docks, but I found something fascinating about it. It spoke of history, labour, and transformation! It made me think about how even the most unexpected spaces can have their own special charm, just like us pink-tutu-wearing, glittery drag queens, don't you think?

Dinner that night was an explosion of flavour at the beautiful 'The Sage' concert hall, which I loved for its architecture, modern-style design, and a really awesome show on. I indulged in a delicious vegan pizza - it was so pink (naturally, I couldn't resist!) and had some fantastic conversations with locals about the cultural hub that Gateshead is!

And the following day, it was time for a bit of culture - Gateshead's own stunning "Sage" theatre! They were hosting a ballet production that I absolutely couldn't miss, my dear friends! I have to admit it was an absolute treat - graceful dancers, beautiful music, and the atmosphere - just perfect! Oh, and you won't believe this... but guess who the show's lead ballerina decided to wear after her performance? Yup! A sparkly pink tutu!

She told me she loved watching my performances online and saw one of my blog posts about the need to "spread the sparkle"! Can you believe it, darling? Iโ€™m absolutely on top of the world! She even asked if we could meet up! My jaw dropped - what an honour.

After all that fabulousness, it was time to head back. I was sad to say goodbye to Gateshead, but already planning my next visit. This is the great thing about the drag lifestyle - we never know where we'll end up! I'm like a magical pink tutu whirlwind of excitement!

This was just a glimpse into my adventure, darlings! There was so much more - gorgeous views from The Millennium Bridge, charming little cafes that would be perfect for a drag tea party, and even a fab local vintage shop with some seriously fabulous pink outfits. But for now, I'm leaving you with this thought - never underestimate the magic of a little pink sparkle.

And remember: itโ€™s not just about the clothes. It's about believing in yourself, spreading positivity, and being brave enough to embrace the extraordinary! Itโ€™s about accepting yourself for who you are, and always letting your inner diva shine!

So go on, darlings! Twirl! Shine! And most importantly - donโ€™t be afraid to wear that pink tutu. It's what sets us apart!

Till next time,

Your pink-tutu-loving friend,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
