Hey darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite, sparkly, tutu-loving queen! It's time to pack my sequined suitcase and head for Chelmsford! I've heard whispers of a fantastic venue for a show and of course, I had to get myself there, stat! And what could be better than a long, leisurely train journey, enjoying the views (and maybe grabbing a cheeky cuppa!), for some quiet time before the stage lights shine. I'm off on another adventure to spread the joy of pink tutus, one sequin at a time!
This is my 9592nd blog post - honestly, who keeps track? I suppose it’s just me and you darlings. Every day I wake up and do a happy little dance before popping my lipstick on and posting my thoughts and feelings about the magical world of pink tutus! Who knew pink tutus were a gateway to all sorts of fab adventures?
It all started with a single pink tutu, and, oh boy, has life changed since! Back in Derbyshire, studying for my science degree, life was pretty ordinary. I was always a bit of a theatre-loving geek, but then the university ballet club decided to put on a charity show. As luck would have it, there was a tutu lying around for costume, a pretty pink affair, and the rest is history! Let’s be honest, I’ve always been a big fan of pink and of a bit of twirling - but it was seeing myself, perfectly in that pink tutu, all ready to hit the stage, that ignited my love for the whole drag persona! From that day, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born. I'd never even thought about drag before, but here I was, suddenly a shimmering, tutu-clad queen, ready to spread my glitter and joy!
For you lovely readers, who aren't quite as familiar with Pink Tutu Sparkles, I’m Alex, your resident pink-loving, scientist-by-day, drag queen by-night, ballet buff! Life can be rather exciting being a science geek and a sequin-loving drag performer. By day, I’m a scientist testing fabrics – I do get some interesting samples! But at night, the real magic happens! It's an amazing switch to slip on my tutu and sashay onto the stage to perform, make some people laugh, and do what I love.
Speaking of tutus, there's something utterly captivating about those little pink petticoats. They're just so ... fun, whimsical and sassy! And a whole lot easier to wear than a real ballerina! I swear, some of those girls can actually make it look graceful, even while dancing on their tippy toes! Anyway, I love tutus, but they are not easy to wear. It’s all about practice. My first foray onto a real ballet stage had some memorable wobbles. A great time was had by all! My drag style has definitely evolved over the years, embracing tutus for a real unique and eye-catching style. There’s no way I’d be seen in anything but a tutu. But then again, this is a blog about tutus!
Back to my fabulous Chelmsford adventure. You'll find me twirling around the city's amazing shops! It's not just ballet that I love - it’s all about the glitter, sequins and pretty dresses, darlings! Gotta be stylish, and shopping is like research to my creative drag queen mind! And then there's Chelmsford's beautiful historic cathedral – maybe even a twirl in front of that beauty? Just a thought!
I have to tell you all about my journey! Chelmsford will be one for the books, my darling followers! If you're around, find me at the theatre, waving my sparkly wand, singing my heart out and reminding everyone that a little pink tutu can really turn your life into a fairy-tale.
And, while we’re talking adventures, did I tell you about my last journey? I just adore trains! Trains, horses - any mode of transport really, that doesn’t involve a car or airplane! You know, sometimes you need a change from all that sparkly drama! Just a simple walk along a scenic country track, or an early morning gallop on horseback, really fills me with creative energy! But those train journeys! Watching the scenery drift by is something magical. And nothing is more glamorous than a grand old railway station, right?
What else did I get up to in my life outside a pink tutu? Well, besides being a science-y, fabric-testing expert, I also have a thing for theatre. Nothing quite beats those classic Broadway tunes, or a showstopping, sequin-filled stage spectacular! For some quiet inspiration I love attending ballets at the local theatre, there's just nothing like watching talented ballerinas dance, telling a story with their every move! And it’s definitely helped my performance - my stage moves are now just a tad bit more fluid, I swear! You could call it, tutu-style, science! I also try and catch the local productions, there's a certain rawness that makes those performances so special.
But here I am, another fabulous pink-tutu-tastic day in Chelmsford. Who knows what amazing things await!
Well, darlings, gotta go and make that fabulous train journey. Don't forget to stay tuned for my next blog post. Maybe even some backstage gossip from the Chelmsford show? See you there, and remember - you can always rock a pink tutu!
Love and glitter,
