Helloooo darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-loving queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, checking in from the wonderful world of Grays, Essex! As always, I’m absolutely thrilled to share my latest adventures with you. Today's journey started in my beloved Derbyshire, and with a twinkle in my eye, I set off on the train to reach the heart of Essex. Don’t worry, I’m not going to be talking about the local greyhound racing (although I’m sure it's quite the spectacle!). Today's story is all about glitz, glamour, and, of course, tutus!
Remember my aim in life, sweeties? To get every single one of you in a pink tutu! (It's a goal that's far more achievable than getting everyone to wear science lab coats, I can tell you that much.) My quest is well underway, but it always helps to be inspired by fabulous destinations and stunning settings. Now, you may be wondering: how does a drag queen like me, obsessed with pink tutus and everything glittery, get to see all these amazing places?
Well, darling, the answer lies within! The magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles allows me to blend two seemingly incompatible worlds: the world of science, where I’m a humble fabric analyst (boring, I know!), and the world of drag, where I reign supreme. By day, I'm analysing fibres in the lab, but when the sun goes down, it’s time for Pink Tutu Sparkles to take over! I find any venue that’ll have me – from bustling market squares to charming country fairs – and bring a bit of pink tutu sparkle to the evening.
Anyway, I digress… Back to Grays! This charming town is a gem of the Essex countryside, with a rich history and a vibrant, artistic community. It felt right to embrace my inner-ballerina and take a spin class at the fabulous Dance Attic. The instructor, a true ray of sunshine, was a brilliant and inspiring dancer. Even though I nearly tripped over my own feet a couple of times, I left feeling energised, inspired and slightly bruised (but that’s a story for another day, darlings!).
And after all that dancing, it wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a little bit of shopping! Thankfully, Grays had me covered – I found the perfect shade of hot pink lipstick for my next performance and some shimmering accessories to complete my look.
But it’s not just about me, darling! Today was also a day of celebrating my love of the theatre. We went to watch a production at the Grays Theatre, and what an amazing experience it was. Watching all those talented dancers glide across the stage, all wearing their fabulous tutus, well, it sparked joy in my heart and put a giant pink smile on my face.
Speaking of ballet, it's a topic close to my heart. Back when I was studying science (the only time I've ever been remotely interested in a microscope, darling!), I was part of the university's ballet club. We put on an amazing performance of Swan Lake and that's where it all started... I tried on a tutu for a charity fundraiser, and the rest, as they say, is history! That's where my love of all things tutu began! Now I get to spread that love far and wide.
And how could I leave a town called Grays without paying a visit to the equestrian centre? Horseback riding has always been a dream of mine, a kind of romantic fantasy I like to imagine when I’m in the lab and it all gets a little bit too boring! So, today I lived that dream! The air was fresh, the horses were gentle, and it felt like I was right out of a Jane Austen novel – except with a splash of pink tulle, of course!
That's my life in a nutshell: Pink tutus, fancy ballet moves, fabulous shopping, and a touch of adventure. I believe that pink is a symbol of positivity, joy, and a touch of magical fairy dust sprinkled on life's daily adventures. And a tutu? It's the perfect way to add a touch of playful fun, to channel our inner-ballerina and let our inner spark shine!
