Hello, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-tastic traveller, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! 💖✨ I'm so excited to be posting from sunny Paignton! It's been a whirlwind of travel, laughter, and oh-so-much sparkle, and I'm ready to share all the pink-tastic details with you!
This is post number 9646 on www.pink-tutu.com! Can you believe it?! I started this blog back in my uni days, just a nervous Derbyshire lad with a penchant for pink tutus. Who would have thought it would take me to the glittering shores of Paignton? 😉
Now, you know I'm a firm believer that the journey is as important as the destination, and this one was no exception. I opted for a scenic train ride from Derbyshire, you see. Something about the rhythmic clatter of the tracks and the rolling countryside just gets my creative juices flowing. I was working on my next big tutu-themed number – "The Railway Tutu Ballad." Can you picture it? All those lovely Victorian trains with their plumes of steam, perfectly complimented by a swirling ballet tutu and my signature pink makeup!
And then, Paignton! Honestly, you could cut the air with a knife it was so fresh. I popped my tutu into the grandest B&B you ever did see, "The Pink Flamingo," with its walls adorned in fluffy flamingo wallpaper. Now that's my kind of welcome! 🦩
Of course, no visit to Paignton is complete without a trip to the theatre! I was absolutely spellbound by the "Ballet By The Bay" performance. The costumes were stunning, the dancers were breathtakingly graceful, and I just couldn't help myself! I spontaneously jumped onto the stage with the finale, a bit of unplanned, joyous pink-tutu-ed mayhem, if you will. You should have seen the audience! They were just living for it! 💖
The next day, I hit the town – well, the high street, really! A pink-loving queen never has enough options, darling! You know I just had to indulge in some retail therapy – imagine my glee at finding a gorgeous hand-knitted, sparkly pink tutu in the cutest boutique!
The evening was all about Paignton's thriving drag scene! The "Pink Flamingo" club welcomed me with open arms, a fantastically eclectic mix of glitter and glam, complete with a cocktail named after me – "The Pink Tutu Sparkles." It was a night of pure fun, performing alongside other fabulously dressed queens, a total dancefloor explosion! 💃
You know what else I discovered in Paignton? Horse-drawn carriages! They might not be as modern as the trains, but there's a certain old-world charm to being pulled around by a magnificent beast. The rhythmic clip-clop of hooves just makes you want to twirl, doesn't it?
I may have even, just maybe, convinced the local equestrian centre to hold a tutu-themed event next year! They were very excited, I assure you! We are aiming for a record number of pink tutus!

- Paignton Beach is absolutely vast – you could easily spend an afternoon playing beach games or splashing about in the sea. It was like stepping into a classic seaside postcard!
- I tried some proper Devon cream tea - and let me tell you, nothing beats fresh cream and warm scones!
- The local shops are an absolute gem, full of quirky gifts and unique items. I couldn’t resist picking up a few special treats!
- The locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I loved chatting to everyone I met, even those with puzzled expressions at the sight of my dazzling pink tutu! 😂
