Oh darlings! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, and I am SO excited to tell you about my latest escapade. This time, I shimmied my way down to Barking, a charming town in east London. Let's just say, this wasn't just your usual drag trip; this was a full-blown Tutu Queen adventure, complete with some serious fashion finds, and a dash of cultural delight.
Remember, if you love anything remotely tutu-ish or fabulous, make sure you pop on over to my website www.pink-tutu.com! This blog, well, it's like a whirlwind of glitter and tutus - pure joy, you might say. I post daily, darling, so you'll never miss out on a sparkly adventure.
Pink Power Arrives in Barking!
Honestly, I've never felt so vibrant! You know I adore travelling by train, and the journey was positively glamorous. A tutu and a train ride - just me, myself, and my dazzling reflection in the windows, dreaming of my Barking escapades. Now, I know some of you might be thinking "Barking? A little rough, isn't it?" but don't you judge a book by its cover! This place has hidden gems and some seriously stylish individuals.
My hotel room had a pink theme, and darling, I don't need to tell you how much I loved it! Everything was pink - the cushions, the throws, the towels. The only thing missing was a giant tutu to decorate the whole place. And trust me, the minute they saw my dazzling pink tutu arriving in the lobby, everyone knew who had checked in!
Barking Bites: Food Fit for a Tutu Queen
I know I should talk fashion first, but darlings, my first stop had to be a cute cafe called "The Cakewalk." Talk about perfect timing - it had pink pastries, an endless selection of cupcakes, and they were ALL made with love (and probably a whole lot of sprinkles)! The staff was just as delightful; a very welcoming and supportive bunch, just the sort I want to see supporting our LGBTQ+ community.
The best part? They offered a pink-themed cocktail! I had to try it, and it was pure deliciousness - sparkling pink, naturally, with a tiny pink-sugar rim. Talk about feeling fancy! And don't even get me started on the pink cupcakes with pink frosting! It's enough to give any Tutu Queen a serious sugar rush.
Fashion Finds in Barking:
Of course, darling, any trip wouldn't be complete without a bit of shopping. And I can assure you, the fashion game in Barking is strong! We're talking high-street trends, vintage treasures, and a smattering of independent boutiques that would make any fashionista's heart skip a beat. And you know me - if it's got pink and glitter, it's going home with me.
One place I found, called "Sew You", had this absolutely incredible pink tutu-inspired clothing range. I was blown away - crop tops, skirts, even a few matching tutus in the softest, most delicious shades of pink you can imagine. You guys know my motto - everyone should rock a pink tutu, right?! This shop was a tutu queen's paradise!
The Ballet in My Heart:
No trip would be complete without some tutu-licious ballet, and oh, darling, did I get lucky! I stumbled upon the Barking Town Hall's annual Dance Spectacular, a show celebrating local talent. The program had everything - contemporary ballet, street dance, and even a few tap routines. It was pure magic - graceful moves, dramatic costumes, and enough talent to fill the entire stage with glitter and glamour. The finale included a breathtaking contemporary ballet inspired by the fairytale “Sleeping Beauty.” You know me, I couldn’t resist. I found myself on stage for an encore - I guess even professional ballet dancers can't resist a bit of pink tutu action.
A Queen's Night Out: Sparkling Fun in Barking
Later that evening, I put on my most dazzling outfit for my big performance at the "Pink Flamingo." This charming pub-cum-theatre was a brilliant little spot. The crowd loved me, cheering with delight when my pink tutu flounced about. This town has the most welcoming people. After the show, I had a delightful chat with a local artist, discussing fashion, dreams, and the importance of embracing our inner sparkle,
A Final Bow: My Barking Farewell
Now, it's time to bid a fond farewell to this magnificent place. I've had a grand time in Barking - the food, the fashion, the amazing show, and the heart of this amazing town will definitely remain with me. If you ever get the chance, give Barking a chance too.
Of course, I can't leave without a sprinkle of sparkle - here are my favourite places in Barking, if you are looking to visit:
- The Cakewalk (The best pink treats!)
- Sew You (My new go-to place for tutu-licious clothes!)
- The Pink Flamingo (For fun performances, good tunes, and lovely people.)
- Barking Town Hall (Catch a local show and let your spirit soar with creativity)
Darling, I'll leave you with one thought - Never be afraid to sparkle. Never shy away from that big, pink tutu dream. I'll see you all in my next post, from a place even more exciting and glittery.
Until next time!
Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
