Pink Tutu Vienna: #1616 - A Waltz Through the City of Dreams

Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026

Oh, my darlings, hello from Vienna! This beautiful city, steeped in history and overflowing with culture, has swept me off my feet – much like the delightful waltz music playing on a carousel at the Prater amusement park just yesterday! This week, my pink tutu has been swirling and twirling in some truly magnificent locations, and I can’t wait to share all the dreamy details with you.

First, let’s rewind to my journey here. As usual, the train ride was pure bliss. There's something utterly magical about being whisked away by the iron horse, especially when it's adorned with intricate engravings and adorned with fluffy pink seat covers (okay, maybe that part was my addition!). It allowed me ample time to indulge in my favourite pastime: reading! I was enthralled by "The Secret History of the Tutu," which details the fascinating evolution of this iconic garment from its humble beginnings as a simple undergarment to its triumphant transformation into a symbol of grace and femininity.

Now, Vienna is a haven for tutu enthusiasts. My first stop was, of course, the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera). It's an absolute masterpiece of architectural grandeur, boasting plush velvet seating and elaborate chandeliers. My eyes, naturally, were drawn to the costumes, each more exquisite than the last! It’s so thrilling to witness how a tutu can take on so many personalities, reflecting the different styles of choreography, and the characters the dancers portray. I spent the whole evening practically glued to my seat, utterly enchanted by the performance.

But let’s not forget the most wonderful part of being here: exploring the city itself! Every corner, every cobblestone street, is a photograph waiting to happen. I made a splash strolling down the Kärntner Strasse, my tutu shimmering in the sun. Let's just say that the locals are quite smitten with my pink attire, and many couldn't resist stopping to chat, take pictures, and maybe even do a little pirouette or two.

No trip to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace. Oh my goodness, it's utterly stunning! I was particularly enamored by the opulent State Apartments and the beautiful gardens, where I danced beneath the blossoms and felt as if I’d stepped into a fairytale. The highlight for me, however, was seeing a magnificent exhibition dedicated to ballet throughout the ages.

And what would a fashionable tutu enthusiast do in a city famous for its music and elegance? Head to a grand shopping arcade, of course! My trip to the luxurious boutiques was practically a dream. I was smitten with a bewitching floral-printed tutu adorned with delicate beading and a tulle underskirt, a total "Vienna Waltz" masterpiece! Of course, it was accompanied by a set of the most fabulous silk scarves in the softest pastel hues imaginable, and a delicate diamond brooch, fit for a ballet princess.

As I conclude my Viennese escapade, I am already itching for my next adventure. There are so many cities left on my pink-tutu-covered map, so many more stages to grace and cultural marvels to behold. I'm absolutely bursting with excitement about the places I will dance through, the stories I will write, and the friends I will make on my grand adventure.

Until next week, my loves,

Emma x
