#PinkTutuWorld Ballet on Planet Earth on 1999-06-30

Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth Blog Post #218 – Cosmic Tutu Chronicles!

Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu World post from your favourite intergalactic ballerina! I'm so excited to share my latest cosmic adventures with you all.

This week, I've been dancing my way through the constellations, spinning through the cosmos, and spreading the joy of pink tutus across the universe! Oh, the wonders we've seen, the incredible shows we've watched, and the amazing new tutu shops we've discovered! I'm literally bursting with excitement just thinking about it, and that's no mean feat considering I'm sporting my brand new "Interstellar Sparkle" tutu - it's a full, swirling tulle dream, dusted with glittering space dust and emblazoned with a cosmic sequin constellation!

1999-06-30: A Dance Through the Decades!

My dear friends, if you’re reading this back on planet Earth, you’ll be aware it’s June the 30th, 1999! How fab is it to be back here in my homeland, even if just briefly? This year has been a rollercoaster! A total blast!

The planet’s buzzing with energy today. It seems everyone's been in the thralls of an iconic show called "Moulin Rouge" in London’s West End! Everyone keeps asking me about it, about whether I saw it, if I liked it, did I wear pink? Oh, I did wear pink! My pink “Boulevard” tutu is just perfect for a Parisian adventure – imagine a ballet performance with feather boas, red velvet curtains, and champagne galore – all things that make my ballerina heart sing. Sadly, I wasn’t able to catch the show while it was on. But a big thanks to my cosmic crew – my friends in intergalactic space – they’ve gifted me the full show DVD on a magical holographic disc for a viewing party later tonight! Now, where's the popcorn and the glitter-dusting for the popcorn bowl, please? I think a few celebratory sequins on our Earthly picnic blankets would also do the trick!

Speaking of celebrating, you all know that 1999 was also the year the beloved British ballet classic, “Swan Lake”, debuted in the UK. How lucky we were to have been present when this dance spectacle, this tale of grace, and tragedy, grace and romance was first presented. Oh, we've seen so many “Swan Lake” adaptations since; I'm off to catch the one in Derbyshire’s Peak District next week.

Shopping Stops!

I don’t know about you, but shopping, dancing, and ballet seem to go hand-in-hand for me. Maybe that's because shopping for fabulous shoes – ballerinas need an excellent selection – makes my heart beat like a grand finale. And I always find the best shows around these chic stores, from London’s Mayfair, where we saw a spectacular modern ballet last week, to New York City’s fabulous SoHo where the showstopper was “The Nutcracker” performed by the Dance Theatre of Harlem. I simply adored seeing those magical Christmas stories unfold, even if they were in the summer heat. New York, Paris, London
oh my! The shopping there, my dears, just blew my mind. The vintage tutu collections, the sequin shops! They are simply out of this world!

You know what’s really hot right now? It's a tutu made of candy floss! Imagine it! Fluffy, pink, and perfectly sweet. We'll talk more about this later, I think. Now for another important piece of ballet and tutu history; let’s time-warp our way back to London’s Victoria and Albert Museum for a special exhibit they’re doing this week
it’s all about ballerinas, the tutu’s history! You won’t believe this, dears! A 200-year exhibition about tutu history from 18th Century ball gowns to our ultra-modern pink tulle dreams! It's simply unbelievable! I have, of course, been following all this week’s exhibitions and events on my TutuTime website app – what can I say, it helps me plan for a trip anywhere, any time in the universe. TutuTime's fab, it knows my pink tutu budget and tells me where the best tutus, ballet shows and parties are! This museum’s show looks simply stunning – and it’s an exhibition about more than just ballet tutus! It's all about fashion, it’s all about dance history, and yes, my friends, it’s all about pink tutus!

Our Universe Needs More Pink TutĂșs!

Before we take our next trip, remember our goal. You know how much I love a tutu. It makes me happy and makes my heart sing! You too? Of course you do. But more than that, I hope that a little bit of this pink tutu joy and sparkle reaches you all – wherever you are, whatever planet you live on. We must encourage more pink tutu love, more ballet shows and parties and more intergalactic journeys for all to enjoy! Remember – no matter where you are in the universe, even here on our planet, a Pink Tutu never goes out of style!

Stay tuned, darlings! My next post is going to be extra sparkly because I'll be sharing some new tips for you to wear your tutu with confidence. And let’s just say – the pink glitter I’ll be sharing won’t leave a trace on your clothes (well, unless you want it to.) Until next week, send a wave across the universe with your tutu-wearing best friend! And, don't forget – share those fab tutu looks! Use #PinkTutuWorld on all your socials, including on your personal Earthly Instagram account, Twitter, Facebook and planetwide Tumblr feeds.

Now, I need to dash! My friends from Andromeda have arrived and they’ve come to show me a secret pink tutu spot in London! I’ll see you next Wednesday. Love and sprinkles, my friends!
