Darling!
Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where the only thing that shimmers brighter than my sequined ballet shoes is the love I have for all things pink, twirly, and tutued. It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of "Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth," your one-stop shop for all things fluffy, fashionable, and utterly fabulous!
This week, my darlings, I've travelled back to the terrestrial sphere! My adventures took me to good old Planet Earth, which, I must admit, is becoming my new favourite destination. I mean, where else can you find such a wide selection of beautiful shoes (they even have stores dedicated entirely to them! Imagine!) and so many fabulously decorated shops? This is the planet for shopping and for ballet, that's for sure!
My Ballet Beginnings
You know, the whole journey actually started because of my love of ballet. Let's take it right back to the beginning, shall we? When I was just a little thing, twirling around in my own makeshift tutu (a curtain fabric draped over a pile of pillows, don't you laugh!), the seed was planted. Ballet, oh how I love ballet. I used to sit there, glued to the television, watching âThe Magic of Danceâ and "Ballet in America," all the time, wishing I could somehow teleport into the screen and join in on the twirls and leaps.
Derbyshire Dreaming
I grew up in Derbyshire, England, a beautiful green county nestled amongst rolling hills and sleepy villages. Believe me, the locals wouldn't think of their county as âsleepyâ at all, and certainly not as a fashion hot-spot - that is, until my pink tutu'd feet began to dance and twirl onto the scene! I made a bit of a splash, if youâll pardon the pun, in Derbyshire and all the surrounding towns and villages too - we are known for our wonderful, traditional tea parties and you won't believe how many new and trendy pink tutus turned up to add that touch of fun to all our tea parties. Derbyshire really loves ballet now and its getting bigger by the day.
But then, I wanted more, I wanted to twirl around the universe in my own personal galaxy of sequins and silk! I've always had a penchant for a little glitter, as you know, and my little girl dream became my lifeâs passion. To spread the love of ballet across the entire galaxy, wearing my favorite pink tutu and finding beautiful things along the way. This week, that's exactly what I did!
Planet Earth Adventures
On my arrival, I must tell you about a fabulous show I saw! It was held in a majestic hall (itâs really something to behold in real life), with such intricate detail on the ceiling. You'll never believe it - they actually have giant metal spiders that go down from the ceiling as a decorative touch. I tell you, it must take ages to clean them all. (That, I discovered, is the downside to some of these âclassicâ structures!). Anyway, enough of the interior decorating talk, let's talk about the show.
Fabulous Dancing
I felt all giddy as the dancers took their bow at the end - my goodness me, it was such a stunning spectacle of pure elegance! Imagine this: the stage lit in shades of pink and lavender, a breathtaking mix of pink hues lighting up the stage, highlighting the ballerinas' every move with the precision of a masterfully painted picture. Just picture a field of graceful flowers in perfect bloom, swaying in a soft breeze, but, you know, without the actual wind because it would be terrible for the dancersâ hair - a true marvel. The movements of the dancers were simply breathtaking, so perfect in every turn, twist and pose!
You're probably thinking âbut darling, didnât you perform yourself?â Why yes, darling! Of course I did. After all, my tutu was there! My stage entrance was all about dazzling pink sequins, complete with the sparkle of a few twinkling stars in my hair to compliment the stageâs magical atmosphere, and naturally, a pair of my favourite pink and purple ballet slippers with extra diamante on them. This show has taken up quite a lot of time - and even a pink-tutu loving ballerina needs to recharge and restock on a good selection of the pinkest and most glamorous new season fashion accessories.
The Ultimate Shopping Destination
So I hopped off to find some fresh wardrobe additions and my goodness me, you can imagine my joy! Planet Earth has endless options when it comes to clothes. There are rows upon rows of dresses and, would you believe it, shops are full of shoes that even match the most unusual colours, even my brightest shades! You can find something for everyone - for a night on the town or a leisurely walk, for work or for play, for tea parties, or for waltzing the night away at an elegant event - the possibilities are truly endless. My pockets, however, might disagree. I bought so many dresses that it actually took two space capsules to carry everything back to my spaceship. I will confess, I made my little brother carry one back. He has quite the physique, he is not at all âsmallâ in stature as some would have you believe - he would argue that point quite fiercely and loudly, but there is no point arguing with me because you know I always get my way and his little pink tutu made it a perfect colour match for our day! He was not too pleased to wear his pink tutu and he didnât appreciate being my suitcase-carrier either. The funny thing is - once he actually donned the tutu and we took a walk down the promenade of a major town and several ladies asked if they could take pictures of him in it. You can see his shock and the joy on his face at being accepted by the "ballet-loving communityâ - they loved his tutu as much as I do.
The whole day went perfectly and was, frankly, better than I had anticipated! This beautiful planet with all of its charm, friendly people and beautiful outfits really has won me over! There really is nothing that planet earth does not have! Of course, they didnât quite understand the concept of pink tutus - you know how earth people can be; they donât understand beauty like the way we do. So I have taken it upon myself to take to the streets in my fabulous pink tutu and do a series of public performances to spread my love of ballet, and maybe, just maybe, inspire a little tutu action among the locals! I mean, everyone on earth has access to fabrics, right? You can be confident they wonât be short on fabrics of any shade of pink, just waiting to be fashioned into twirly creations. Oh darling, imagine the possibility! Imagine a pink tutu revolution right here on planet Earth! Just the thought brings a sparkle to my eye, and maybe even a twirl or two!
Ballet History: Planet Earth edition!
Well darling, you wonât believe this - Iâve been researching some history and it turns out ballet actually originated right here! I have done my homework on this topic for months and just couldnât believe it when I read it! You are talking about the 15th century! In the 16th Century it is believed that this amazing dance form took on a little more formalism, with King Louis the XIV having the very first ballet dance school in France! But they must have started the art of ballet somewhere else - right? And if you read what historians tell us, the oldest form of ballet that anyone knows of dates right back to planet Earth, and the beginning of their civilisation! Imagine all that elegant history right there under our noses!
My next trip is already in the making. My little space ship will hopefully take me back to Earth very soon so I can inspire even more dancers in beautiful pink tutus. My blog will update on my trip back soon! Until then darling, my tutu twirls for you and let's dance until we glitter and shine - our hearts will tell us how to be graceful in all our dreams and goals. See you next Wednesday, darlings!
Love, Emma x
