Oh hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad intergalactic fashionista, beaming down to you live from planet Earth. Can you believe it's already January 30th?! I feel like the holidays just zipped past in a blur of festive frocks, twinkling lights and delicious festive treats (oh how I do love mince pies, especially with lashings of brandy butter!)
Anyway, enough of reminiscing, it's time for a fabulous new adventure! I just landed back on this little blue planet from an epic, intergalactic ballet extravaganza and I have to tell you, it was truly divine. This week I was bouncing around the galaxy in my custom-designed, glittering pink tutu, spreading the joy of ballet and dazzling everyone I met.
(Fun fact: I'm now rocking a beautiful, hand-beaded tutu with holographic sequins that sparkle like a supernova. You simply MUST see it in person, it's pure magic!)
Before I take you on a whirlwind tour of my celestial travels, let's have a quick recap on Earthly happenings. You know how much I love ballet history, so guess what took place on this very day back in 1944?! None other than the grand opening of the iconic Sadler's Wells Theatre, right here in my beloved London! And you simply cannot mention ballet history without paying homage to one of my favourite ballerinas: Dame Margot Fonteyn. Her legacy shines brighter than any star in the Milky Way. Her talent, grace, and elegant style are an inspiration to all dancers, including myself!
(Quick note: I actually bumped into a descendant of hers during a delicious afternoon tea in the British countryside last week! She's quite the character, absolutely bursting with stories of her famous ancestor. And did she have the most gorgeous tutu collection! swoon)
Now, onto my grand galactic escapades! This week, I jetted off to the fabulous planet Aqualine. Known for its breathtaking sapphire skies and aquamarine oceans, it's no surprise that their dance traditions centre around elegant fluidity and grace. It reminded me of the enchanting ocean ballet scenes from The Little Mermaid - minus the pesky sea witch, of course!
Aqualine's ballet scene is booming! Their version of pointe shoes, you wouldn't believe! Instead of leather, they're made with woven algae, super strong but so light it feels like they're gliding on air! And their tutu's - pure opulence! Shimmering aqua silks that flowed with every movement like waves crashing on a pristine beach. Oh, I must show you the pictures later!
Speaking of pictures: I spent my afternoon strolling through the Aqualine National Ballet Museum, a real haven for any ballet enthusiast! Imagine an entire building filled with centuries of tutus, from ancient shimmering gowns to futuristic designs that look straight out of a sci-fi movie! I found myself admiring the incredible craftsmanship and how fashion and function danced beautifully together across the centuries.
Naturally, a trip wouldn't be complete without seeing a show. Tonight, I enjoyed a stunning performance by the Aqualine Royal Ballet - "The Sirens' Song." It was a story about mermaids, sea nymphs, and of course, a dashing prince (dressed in an impressive blue velvet leotard with sequins, you have to believe me!). The dance sequences were simply captivating - graceful, strong, and filled with so much emotional power that tears welled up in my eyes (Don't judge me! It was the music! So emotional!)
And of course, no travel adventure is complete without a bit of retail therapy! Aqualine is renowned for its stunning marine pearl jewellery, each piece handcrafted with incredible precision. I snapped up a set of pearl earrings in a beautiful cerulean blue - just wait till you see how stunning they look against a pink tutu!
(Quick thought: I might try combining some of these stunning turquoise pearls into a new tutu design...imagine the sparkle!)
Oh, darling, there is so much more to tell you, so much I saw, so many people I met. From the lovely Aquilineans with their infectious laughter to the dazzling shows, this trip was nothing short of magical. But alas, I have to return to Earth! And trust me, I'm brimming with ideas and inspiration for the latest addition to the Pink Tutu World clothing line. We might just be making waves with our next design, if I may say so myself!
And remember, my darling friends, even if you can't travel the galaxy, you can always experience the magic of ballet right here on Earth. It doesn't matter if you're watching a grand performance at a majestic opera house, taking a class at your local dance studio, or simply enjoying the grace and joy of a child twirling in a tutu - the spirit of ballet is everywhere, just waiting to be embraced!
Until next Wednesday, my sweet little lovelies, don't forget to keep twirling, keep shining, and most importantly, never be afraid to dream big.
Big love,
Emma xx
