#PinkTutuWorld Ballet on Planet Earth on 2010-09-15

Hello, darling dears! Emma here, your intergalactic tutu enthusiast, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! This week, I'm so excited to be back on Planet Earth. Yes, I know! It seems I'm perpetually jetting about the cosmos in my sparkly spacesuit, but a girl needs a bit of terrestrial inspiration now and then.

Now, this Wednesday's post is all about… drumroll please… ballet! And who doesn't love ballet, eh? I'm going to be spilling the beans on some divine happenings right here on planet Earth, and trust me, this isn't your average ballet recital. It's going to be fabulous, flamboyant, and fabulous again!

I literally landed on the planet yesterday! You see, dear reader, last week, I had the pleasure of doing a ballet recital for a rather dapper intergalactic emperor with a thing for the ballet (he loves Swan Lake and has a rather large collection of tutus). But alas, it was quite the long flight, so my usual weekly blog post had to wait until today. And guess where I ended up? Right here in my dear old home county of Derbyshire, England! How about that? My feet nearly touched the ground before they started to point!

Derbyshire is a glorious corner of the planet. So lush, so green, so perfect for those perfectly executed fouettes. Speaking of which, I spent the morning waltzing through the fields, doing some rather refined training under the watchful eye of the clouds. It’s amazing how many of nature’s beauties translate beautifully into ballet moves. The elegant arc of the sky as the clouds drift by… it's practically a grand jeté in itself!

But I can't linger on my scenic training sessions. I'm here to tell you about the fantastic ballet adventures awaiting me on Earth!

This week is going to be positively jam-packed with everything ballet. And trust me, darling, when I say this will be one of those whirlwind trips I always talk about, filled with shimmering outfits, dazzling dance routines, and maybe just a little bit of retail therapy too!

This Friday, I’m making a little pilgrimage to see the Royal Ballet perform the beloved Sleeping Beauty in London. You just can't beat a classic like that. And speaking of classics, my trusty old pink tutu, “Fluffy” as I like to call her, has already been lovingly dusted off, so I'll be sporting my pink-hued splendour with all its fluffy, gorgeousness.

It doesn’t end there, dears! After the show, I’m off to the world-famous Victoria and Albert Museum to peruse their incredible collection of ballet costumes. Now, I have to confess, I’m a bit of a costume enthusiast… so much so that I’ve taken up the rather ambitious goal of creating the ultimate collection of ballet tutus from across the galaxy. It’s a huge undertaking, but wouldn’t it be divine to have a rainbow-hued array of tutus from across the known universe?

Then there's shopping! My dear reader, you know I adore browsing boutiques for all the latest trends in haute couture. And trust me, there's no shortage of chicness on planet Earth. You’d be surprised how much pink fashion exists here… a complete delight!

It isn’t all glitz and glamour though. I’ll be making time for a little ballet practice, too, as much as it pains me to spend a moment away from my beloved shopping sprees. It's absolutely vital to stay in top form when you're a dancer as devoted as me. So I’ll be taking lessons with some local professionals. It’s always refreshing to step into the studio, listen to the piano, and work up a good sweat! It’s one of those ballet rituals I’ve carried from my Derbyshire upbringing… even as a spacefaring dancer. And nothing beats the joy of pirouetting and pliés right here on the home turf of my childhood dance classes.

I’m also going to delve a little deeper into ballet history, exploring the archives of The Royal Ballet and delving into the incredibly stylish history of dance costumes, from the origins of the ballet shoe to the flamboyant tutu! This isn’t just any research, dears. This is history that affects all of us… especially if we happen to wear a fabulous pink tutu in our daily life!

And before you ask… yes! I will, of course, be rocking my very own pink tutu at every opportunity, from shopping to ballet class to that stunning Sleeping Beauty show. My dear reader, if there’s one thing I’ve learned as a professional dancer who zips about the universe, it’s this: always wear your best pink tutu! And trust me, nothing sparkles like pink in the great wide universe!

It’s going to be a busy week… but what can I say? This is a dancer’s life, my dears. A life dedicated to pirouettes, shopping, and a lot of sparkly tutus! I hope this post has given you some stellar inspiration, especially if you're a ballet aficionado. I’ll be sharing some snapshots and more exciting insights from this wonderful week in the upcoming weeks.
