Helloooo gorgeous cosmic beings!
It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing space explorer, Emma, here! Ready to take you on a whirl through my latest adventures on Planet Earth, a trip I funded with a whole host of delightful ballet performances. And wouldn't you know it, this week was just bursting with fabulously fabulous experiences!
This week I decided to stick to Earth. With so many incredible shows, stores and fashion hotspots on offer, I hardly need a spaceship. It's all a bit overwhelming, honestly! My brain was spinning trying to work out which amazing show to go to. Eventually, I went with a beautiful production of Swan Lake by the National Ballet in London. Oh, how exquisite! I almost choked on my popcorn (although thankfully it wasn't actually in my mouth... well, not completely) when the white swan and her friends went into a spinning flurry of tutus, I gasped with delight!
After the performance, I went on a little shopping expedition in London's famous Regent Street. You know, I'm a big fan of the whole "pink" thing (who isn't?), so I was thrilled to find the most divine little boutique stocked full of pastel-hued pink loveliness. My tutu-loving heart was overjoyed!
Now, here's a fun fact I learned this week about tutus! Did you know that tutus first appeared in 1839, in a ballet called La Sylphide? Before then, ballerinas danced in these lovely long, flowing skirts. What a time to be alive, right? Talk about avant-garde! Anyway, I thought I'd share my newly acquired tutu knowledge, because spreading the ballet love is the name of the game here in Pink Tutu World!
But enough about tutus for now! My Earthly adventure wouldn't be complete without mentioning one of my most cherished hobbies: ballet history. This week, I had the immense pleasure of visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum, and their ballet archives. They have some seriously impressive collection of costume designs, photographs, and even letters written by ballerinas throughout the ages! I've even got my eye on an 18th century dance book – if they'd let me take it, I'd be waltzing straight out of there!
Speaking of dancing, I took a beginner's class at the prestigious Royal Ballet School! Okay, so I didn't quite reach a graceful plié, and my arabesque resembled a wobbly giraffe, but it was such fun. And I got to chat to some wonderful budding ballerinas – I told them all about my intergalactic adventures! I may even have inspired some to follow my path… Who knows, maybe they'll be joining me on my travels to new and exciting worlds one day.
Before you go, I wanted to share my latest absolute fave outfit: A fluffy, tulle-infused pink dress paired with delicate butterfly-adorned silver pumps (they sparkle! squeal), complete with a matching little pink tote bag. Absolutely perfect for a picnic in the park with my friends. And yes, we wore pink tutus too, just to be sure.
This Earthly escapade has been an absolute dream! I hope you’re all getting out there and exploring all the wonderful, tutu-ful delights this little planet has to offer. Remember, the only thing more magical than a good ballet performance is dancing your way to a new adventure, so keep on dreaming and keep on dancing!
Love always, your cosmic ballerina, Emma
P.S. I can't wait for you to see what's next on the itinerary! My spaceship is charged up, my pink tutu is packed, and my heart is bursting with excitement! Remember, the Pink Tutu World website (www.pink-tutu.com) is updated with a brand new post every Wednesday! You know you want to come along!
