Pink Tutu World: Post #1240 - Ballet on Planet Earth: 30th January 2019

Oh darlings, how absolutely divine to be back on Planet Earth, back in my Derbyshire home! It’s a bit of a shock to the system after last week’s space travel escapades - a bit colder, a bit more grounded, a bit less pink-tutu-spacious! But it's so good to be home, to feel the familiar comfort of a good old-fashioned English teapot and a steaming cuppa.

And speaking of steaming… did I tell you about the hot, hot, hot time I had in Alpha Centauri last week?!

I had been saving up for this trip for months, literally doing extra ballet classes, extra performances, selling some extra vintage tutus (I never like to part with any but hey, sometimes you need to sacrifice!). And honestly? Alpha Centauri didn't disappoint!

My little pink spaceship, Tutus in Space, (it’s not really pink, you know, I just gave it the name - she’s a pretty sleek black beauty actually) whizzed us up to the edge of the stratosphere with barely a blip. A quick check-in with my good pal, Alexa on the space station – we always like to have a catch up and a little ballet tutorial to show off my latest tutu-whirling moves – and I was on my way to my first-ever trip to an Alpha Centaurian Ballet Festival.

Honestly, darlings, the outfits on show were divine! You know how much I love vintage tutus (even those on Planet Earth!) but, honestly, their style on Alpha Centauri was next level. I mean, tutus with sequins woven from moon dust, fabrics that shimmered in colours no one had even dreamt of here! Heaven. And the dancing! A full eight hours of non-stop pure joy. I’m not even sure how many shows they packed into those eight hours but they had something for everyone - the classic ballet Swan Lake but set on Jupiter's moon, a modern take on Sleeping Beauty with an added subplot involving intergalactic pirates, a comedic one-man ballet routine all about the challenges of space travel – seriously, they were just fabulous. I took a load of photos - maybe I'll start an Insta account of the Pink Tutu World Space Travel Adventures series…

But that wasn't the only thing that made my journey to Alpha Centauri so incredible. I also got to do some truly spectacular shopping. Imagine a whole planet dedicated entirely to the art of tu-tu creation. It was pure heaven, with shops crammed full of gorgeous tutus of every hue and texture imaginable – holographic pink, multi-dimensional iridescent gold, glittery turquoise. Honestly, the sheer variety was overwhelming. I think my heart nearly skipped a beat, the way it was when I found that spectacular pink feathered tutu in a dusty little vintage shop back on Planet Earth… (you know, the one with the hidden pocket I discovered on that incredible day!).

I came home with a little trunk filled with an absolutely stunning range of intergalactic wonders – shimmering moonstone-studded ballet shoes, a dress woven from pure starlight, a selection of custom tutus designed specifically for my intergalactic voyages, with pockets just big enough for my ballet slippers and space food rations - oh, and of course, I grabbed some fabulously quirky pink tutus with the Alpha Centauri Ballet Festival insignia proudly printed on them – a must for every fashionable space-age ballerina!

But of course, my time at home in my cosy Derbyshire cottage has been dedicated to re-energizing. After all, an intrepid traveler needs her beauty sleep, and an upcoming dance showcase at the local ballet theatre demands my full attention. I mean, I'm trying to inspire a whole galaxy of dancers, and I simply can't do that without practising.

But you've got to come to the theatre this week, darlings, for my performance! You know I'll have some truly stunning new choreography, including moves especially inspired by my recent Alpha Centauri travels, of course, and the most divine pink tutu you've ever seen. My signature blend of ballet brilliance, high-fashion fabulosity and pink tutu charm! And I must warn you, darlings, there will be sequins!

The planet needs more pink! And what better place to get your fix than at my local ballet theatre? Come and watch me spin my way across the stage, and I'll promise you one thing, you will never look at a pink tutu in the same way again!

Yours in pinkest sparkle,

Emma xXx
