Hello my darling dears! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, your weekly dose of everything sparkly, twirly and utterly fabulous! Today, I'm going to whisk you all away from our earthly home and take you on a journey straight into the heart of the galaxy... cue dramatic spaceship whoosh sound effects!
You see, this week has been a whirl of intergalactic travels for me! I jetted off (by spaceship, obviously!) last Thursday for a quick ballet-related mission: to find the ultimate pink tutu in a little-known star system in the Andromeda Galaxy. And guess what? I actually found it! A shimmering, glorious creation with the most exquisite blend of pastel pinks and shimmering iridescent accents. It was simply divine!
Now, I can’t go into detail just yet about exactly how I came to be on another galaxy for my ballet supply shop! It was a bit of a "hush hush" situation, you see. Let's just say, it involved a misunderstanding with the Galactic Fashion Council and some interplanetary etiquette. I wouldn't want to upset any extraterrestrial friends, would I?
However, what I can share is what I did manage to pack into this ridiculously short trip, alongside my trusty pair of pointe shoes: A few outfits that could double as both everyday chic and for a little celestial performance, a fabulous pink leather bomber jacket for those extra-chilly days amongst the nebulae, my secret travel essentials (always including a tiny bottle of glitter hairspray!), and my ever essential "Pink Tutu Guide to the Universe", complete with a little glossary of important "tutu etiquette" for all galaxies. Because, darling, let’s face it, it's no use just waltzing around space in a fabulous pink tutu if you don't know the rules of etiquette!
Anyway, after a truly exhilarating cosmic trip, I landed back here on good old Planet Earth on Sunday. The moment I set foot in Derbyshire again, I was whisked off to an impromptu “tutu tea party" in my Mum's garden.
It was a little chaotic at times, but, that's to be expected! Let’s just say my Mum isn't as used to seeing me covered in cosmic glitter from my trips. After several "Mum, my hair IS pink because I went to another Galaxy, stop asking!", we calmed things down with a perfectly lovely slice of my Mum's famous strawberry Victoria sponge cake, which truly restored a little earthly order.
But my intergalactic travels weren't quite over!
Speaking of cosmic happenings, Wednesday was quite a magical evening here in Derbyshire, as my friends and I made our way to the Chatsworth House for the outdoor ballet performance of Swan Lake! This gorgeous venue, with its expansive lawn and charming backdrop of a lake, is simply perfect for ballet under the stars.
The open-air setting had this magic air to it – you could feel the breeze and hear the orchestra sound carried over the lake, it was simply mesmerising. And of course, Swan Lake, with its captivating choreography, romantic story and dramatic, swoon-worthy ending, always makes me melt with absolute ballet bliss. I simply couldn't resist a little impromptu twirl or two under the shimmering lights of the starry sky - even if it was just in my simple white maxi dress.
Talking of magical things, let's get to the important matter of today: Fashion, darlings! As any true fashionista knows, "Wednesday is for the Girlies". You just have to find the time to indulge in some gorgeous wardrobe additions – a new pair of shoes (maybe a pink, pointed pump to complement that celestial pink tutu), a new, floral midi skirt (perfect for afternoon tea!), a playful sundress (because summer is officially here and you deserve to twirl!) - or perhaps even a brand-new lipstick that would make the very heavens gasp! (We all love a touch of vibrant pink, don't we?)
That being said, let’s be honest – for every new gorgeous piece we want, we need a few basics to ensure those outfits always look effortlessly stunning. Right? Which brings us to my all-time fashion favourite: The LBD! (It’s the Little Black Dress for anyone who's just a tad out of the loop, or simply needs a bit of reminding!) It is, of course, the wardrobe essential, and honestly, there is a perfectly flattering little black dress for every occasion – a timeless classic you can dress up or dress down in an instant! So, yes, I know this is a fashion must-have that should be in your wardrobe, and no, I am never going to get tired of telling you about it. Because, my dears, the little black dress is simply divine.
On this little fashion journey of ours, don't forget the magic of accessorising. We can all be transformed in an instant by adding that perfect accessory to an outfit. You know – statement jewellery, chic bags, the right shoes, a delicate scarf (especially to add a little whimsy in a boring old corporate meeting). So let loose your inner fashion fairy and let’s get this accessorising done!
Alright darlings, we are out of time for today, I simply have so many fun fashion ideas for all of you that I’ve hardly scratched the surface! But fret not, we will be right back next Wednesday for another dose of pink tutu fabulousness. Oh, and for you lucky ladies with a little extra time on your hands, go visit our online shop (www.pink-tutu.com - see I told you I’d slip in another mention!), as there's always something exciting to be found in my virtual treasure trove of fashion and ballet inspiration. Until next week, remember, keep twirling, and wear your pink tutus with pride!
Much Love, Emma xxx
Postscript:
*Oh, and I almost forgot! Just a *tiny bit of exciting news... This very special Pink Tutu World blog was created as part of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Ballet Russe. You might not know this, but it is absolutely my favourite Ballet company - so of course, Pink Tutu World is here to celebrate this historical milestone. After all, they paved the way for modern Ballet theatre. Who doesn't love a little history, especially when it involves dance! Now that I’ve let the cat out of the bag about this exciting milestone, I’m just dying to hear about your favourite ballet performances, so do share them with us in the comments!
