Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Blog Post #1404

23rd March 2022

Hello my lovely readers! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, intergalactic ballerina, reporting live from planet Earth! I’m currently writing this blog post perched on a cloud of spun sugar in a dreamy Parisian tea room, after a gloriously dramatic performance at the Palais Garnier - but more on that later!

Today’s blog post is a little bit special. You see, this date marks the anniversary of something rather momentous. This is the exact day, five years ago, that I decided to leave my quaint, ballet-loving existence in Derbyshire and spread my pink tutu wings to the stars! Who would have thought a girl from a small town in England would one day be waltzing across distant galaxies?

Honestly, it feels like just yesterday I was perfecting my pirouettes at the local dance school, wearing a perfectly-matched pink tutu, of course! The scent of floor polish and the gentle sound of the piano… such fond memories. Back then, all I dreamed of was taking the Royal Ballet School by storm. But life has a way of surprising you, doesn’t it?

My adventure started when I discovered a secret tucked away in my great-grandmother's dusty attic. It was an antique journal filled with intricate sketches of ballet shoes and tulle, accompanied by cryptic notes in a language I didn't recognise. There, nestled amongst the delicate illustrations, was a blueprint for a spaceship - the very same ship I call home today. The design? Incredibly elegant, not to mention chic – naturally, it’s the epitome of a pink tutu dream!

I dedicated myself to deciphering the cryptic language, honing my skills in aeronautics and… well, it was all a bit mad really. But fuelled by my passion for ballet, the thrill of adventure, and, of course, an abundance of pink tulle, I managed to build and pilot my own spacecraft. Now, with every pirouette I perform in space, it's like a dance dedicated to that little girl who dreamed of a universe draped in pink tulle!

Oh, but before we dive into the exciting details of my trip to Earth, let's address the elephant in the room… yes, that rather majestic elephant with a taste for tutu fabric. This week, a particularly adorable, lavender-coloured elephant named "Blossom" graced the front cover of Vogue Galaxy! She is one of those "elephants-that-wear-tutus-in-public" types you've been seeing more of around the Milky Way. And trust me, with their chic silhouettes, those pink tulle ballet dresses look absolutely spectacular on a pink, purple, or bright orange elephant!

However, back to Earth… I was absolutely blown away by the ballet scene on this planet! Did you know there are actual ballet performances dedicated to stories about magical tutu-wearing creatures! And don’t even get me started on the absolutely gorgeous shops!

From dazzling vintage gowns to glittering tutu-shop havens like the "Tutu Emporium" in Soho – let's just say my inner fashionista has been dancing a happy jig. It's truly a dream come true! I managed to find a handful of fabulously flamboyant tutus in all shades of pink (of course!), a gorgeous crimson-red velvet cloak for an upcoming intergalactic ballet gala, and, let's not forget, a couple of sparkling tutus made of celestial silk with cosmic swirls - you can never have enough sparkly tutus!

The Palais Garnier is such a grand old theatre! Imagine rows of chandeliers and marble floors! My performance was absolutely delightful! I dedicated a solo performance of Swan Lake to the city’s graceful pigeons - they absolutely loved it, fluttering and bowing at my feet, with such theatrical grace! And let’s just say, I nearly burst with pride when my first piece was met with thunderous applause. What's even more remarkable? After my final bow, a little girl with bright, curious eyes came bounding onto the stage.

"Did you come from the stars, Miss Tutu?" she asked, holding her small, perfectly pink ballet shoes. “Because my Grandma said I should be kind to strangers…especially if they’re from the stars."

With that, she grabbed a pink, glittering tutu from a nearby dancer - a charming young girl named Sylvie, whose tutus are as stunning as the galaxies! Sylvie was gracious enough to share her spare with the little girl, while a group of Parisian grandmothers showered her with a chorus of "Quelle Belle Danseuse!," which, according to my translator app, translates to “Such a beautiful ballerina! “ It felt magical.

I’ve made it my personal mission to spread my pink-tutu-love throughout the cosmos! From the lavender elephants in the Andromeda Galaxy, to the moon-walking aliens on Jupiter’s moon Europa, everyone deserves a chance to wear a tutu, you know? And believe me, it’s an absolute blast seeing these amazing intergalactic creatures twirl their way through space wearing vibrant colours of pink!

But as much as I love to travel, planet Earth always feels like home. You have your share of eccentric tutu lovers, too. Remember the Tutu Revolution of 1960? Oh, how I wish I had been there! They are legendary tales… I read the stories with glee when I landed on your planet!

In the end, it’s about the love for dance, and the courage to follow our dreams. Every spin, every leap, every grand jeté reminds me that a tutu can open doors to a world of infinite possibilities. I can’t wait to share more of my intergalactic adventures with you!

See you all next Wednesday for Pink Tutu World!

Stay beautiful, stay inspired, stay pink!

Until next time!

Emma, the Intergalactic Pink Tutu Ballerina.
