Pink Tutu World: Intergalactic Ballet Adventures – Blog Post 1462 – 03 May 2023

Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday, so it's time for another dose of Pink Tutu World. You know how much I adore a good ballet show – the artistry, the grace, the glorious costumes… and, of course, the tutus! So, naturally, when I was given the chance to catch a performance of "Ballet under the Stars" on the beautiful, shimmering planet of Aquamarine, I jumped at it.

Aquamarine is a true gem – not just for the dazzling blue sky but for the unique fashion scene too! I was absolutely smitten by the locals' shimmering gowns. It's as though every single person has walked straight out of a fairy tale! I did wonder if perhaps they had stumbled across one of my old tutu sketches from when I was 12, remember the ones with the sequined constellations? No, my sweet readers, it wasn't a stolen design; the Aquamarine people are genuinely fashion-forward.

It turns out the local artistic director was so taken with my, er, ‘bold' sartorial choices – shall we say? that she asked me to collaborate on a piece for the Aquamarine's ballet academy. Naturally, I obliged. I even used my precious free time – a rarity, you know – to whip up a little something special. It’s all pink, naturally, and I incorporated a subtle constellation design around the hem – a little nod to our lovely Aquamarine friends.

Oh, the performance! The audience – Aquamarinians are notoriously well-dressed, you see – absolutely loved it! The music was ethereal, a symphony of harps, whistles, and, oddly enough, something that sounded suspiciously like an underwater chorus of fish! I had to try out the dancing moves myself after the show. I’m afraid it was slightly disastrous. Turns out, Aquamarinians use levitation as part of their dancing and it takes a whole lot of practice. A lot.

Let's talk about fashion for a moment, darlings. On Aquamarine, the colour pink is seen as a colour of strength. This was just delightful. So delightful, in fact, that I brought a whole new selection of pink tutu designs for my fashion showcase on my last day on the planet. I mean, even the planet's leading ballerina has incorporated a dash of pink into her costume, so we're talking serious trendsetter material here, right?

Anyway, Aquamarine wasn't the only stop on my recent trip – we also landed in the mystical city of Luminara on Planet Zuriel. The planet has a magical ambiance that takes you back to a forgotten world. The buildings were made of crystal – literally! I can't say the style really sparked my imagination. Everything felt a bit… dusty? There were cobblestone streets and an odd, rather stale aroma in the air that I could only compare to dusty parchment – not quite my cup of tea, to be honest. The dance culture here is rooted in ancient rituals and movements, far removed from my passion for extravagant theatricality.

Now, back to a more familiar, earthy vibe. It’s hard to imagine how much I love my home planet of Earth sometimes! Even though my days here are quite hectic between my ballet performances, dance classes, and blog writing, I can’t deny the sheer joy of seeing my world from space! Earth really is quite spectacular when viewed from a spacecraft. I was reminded of the time I flew over the Alps a couple of years ago. I can't resist showing you a few snaps on my Instagram. Remember to follow my adventures there, dear reader! @pinktutuworld

As we hurtle back towards Earth in my trusty spaceship, I’m starting to think about this week’s itinerary – There's an intriguing-sounding show happening tonight at the London Coliseum – a fusion of traditional ballet with modern elements. Now, this sounds right up my street! You know I always prefer to go all out for my outfits for London theatre – after all, it’s all about looking fashionably fabulous and embracing the energy of the performance. The more pink, the better! I already have a shimmering new design in mind.

This week, I'm dedicating this post to all those wonderful souls who follow their dreams. If I, a simple ballerina from Derbyshire, England, can travel across galaxies in search of artistic beauty, anything is possible. Remember that the Universe is a canvas for your dreams and with enough glitter, you can make any dream come true.

Stay pink and sparkly, darlings! *

See you all next week!

There are some new dance movements to learn and the costume design has been taking up all of my creative time recently, which is quite a rare luxury to have!

I also have an invitation to perform at the Royal Opera House - something that I am beyond excited about, it looks like an utterly fantastic opportunity! We are going to need some pink inspiration!
