Paris, Mon Amour! - #PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 1373 🩰

Bonjour mes chéries!

The Parisian sunshine is just peeking through the window of my adorable little hotel room, casting a gentle blush over everything. As you all know, pink is my favourite colour, and Paris just seems to whisper the shade in every corner - from the blush of the Eiffel Tower at sunset to the delicate pink petals of a rosebud tucked into a florist's window.

This weekend, I've hopped on the Eurostar for a whirlwind tour of this romantic city, the perfect antidote to a week of back-to-back ballet classes at the studio in Derby. You know me, always ready for a change of scenery! (Even if the scenery is merely a change from my beloved pink tutu, which is sadly taking a backseat on this trip - much to my disappointment.) This week's blog post is dedicated to everything Parisian! Think shopping, pastries, and maybe a little bit of romance... because honestly, what's a trip to Paris without a sprinkle of that?

Day 1: The Grand Arrival and Fashion Find

This journey was even more exciting than usual! Stepping onto the platform at St. Pancras Station, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement bubbling up within me. I was greeted by the familiar swoosh of the Eurostar, that sleek, futuristic bullet train that whisks me away on my adventures. There's something magical about train travel, wouldn't you agree? Especially with my trusty copy of Jane Eyre, a flask of my favourite Earl Grey tea, and, of course, my latest fashion find: a beautiful pastel pink handbag adorned with delicate lace trim. (You knew I couldn't resist, right?)

Once I arrived in Gare du Nord, the aroma of fresh pastries filled my senses. It was like walking into a scene from a Parisian film. I immediately sought out a charming patisserie and indulged in a croissant - crispy on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth flaky inside. This is definitely the life!

My hotel is located in the heart of Montmartre, which just oozes Parisian charm. You know, quaint cobbled streets, bustling little cafés, and views of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica that could melt the coldest heart. I unpacked my bags, feeling a twinge of excitement for the weekend ahead. My goal: soak in the city’s vibes, explore its hidden corners, and of course, pick up a few Parisian souvenirs. Because you can never have enough French fashion, right?

Day 2: Bonjour, Moulin Rouge!

No trip to Paris is complete without a trip to the Moulin Rouge, am I right? I spent this morning exploring the bohemian, artistic spirit of the Montmartre district. I even stumbled upon a beautiful hidden garden with a charming old-fashioned carousel, perfect for a twirl or two. The vibrant colours and intoxicating energy of the artists selling their wares, sketching portraits, and busking tunes left me feeling creatively inspired.

The highlight of the day, however, was witnessing the sheer magic of the Moulin Rouge! I took a prime seat in the theatre and let myself get swept away by the energy and spectacle of the show. The can-can girls were magnificent! All sequins and feather boas, their graceful leaps and dazzling smiles seemed to make the stage glitter even brighter. As much as I love performing in my own tutu, the showmanship of the dancers was truly impressive. Afterwards, I stepped outside, feeling a warmth glow within me - that's what makes Paris truly special!

Day 3: Le Grand Finale

Sunday was dedicated to exploring some of Paris' iconic sites. The Eiffel Tower was an unforgettable experience. Walking across the wrought-iron bridge, looking up at the magnificent architecture, taking photos and selfies, I truly felt the romance of the city. After a delicious afternoon picnic with the most exquisite French cheese, we took a boat ride on the Seine River. Honestly, what could be more magical than gliding along the river, past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun?

I found a delightful little bakery near my hotel, and oh, the scent of fresh bread and the sound of the baker's spatula working magic on the dough - pure delight! I tucked into a pain au chocolat, feeling perfectly content.

The Art of Parisian Chic

The one thing that always captivates me about Paris is its sense of effortless chic. You can just feel the passion for fashion on the streets - a crisp black trench coat, a beret, a statement scarf - even the Parisian mums pushing strollers somehow make their simple jeans and white shirts look fashion-forward! For a fashion-lover like me, it’s a constant inspiration. I was in heaven browsing the shops on Rue de Rivoli and the elegant boutiques of Saint Germain des Prés.

Even a simple cup of tea in a little café can be transformed into a fashion experience with the perfect hat or scarf! That’s what I love about Parisian style – it’s about classic pieces with a little something special to make it unique, just like my beloved tutus. (I’m definitely thinking about starting a Parisian pink tutu collection!)

What I Wore in Paris:

This time I came prepared. Forget my classic pink tutu for this trip (although a Parisian ballet performance would be the perfect excuse to unleash it). I went for a chic yet playful mix of styles, inspired by my Parisian muse! Think flowy floral midi dresses, silk scarves tied around my hair like Parisian artists, statement earrings that would have Coco Chanel herself smiling, and my absolute favourite - my blush-coloured lace-trimmed coat that stole the show everywhere I went!

I did, of course, sneak in a few opportunities for a twirl or two in my ballerina flats! (And secretly hoped I would find a Parisian dancing opportunity…)

Tips for a First Time Parisian Trip

Remember, my little lovelies, travel is an adventure, and even with my expert knowledge of Paris, there are always little details that make the experience unique.

Here are a few tips to make your trip magnifique:

  • Get a Navigo Pass! This metro pass saves you so much time and money, especially if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing. It allows you to hop on and off as many times as you like for a set fee - a dream for an enthusiastic traveller like me!
  • Explore the little alleyways: The heart of Paris isn’t just about the iconic sights - the real beauty lies in discovering hidden corners and independent boutiques that line the charming cobblestone streets.
  • Bonjour! I can’t stress this enough. A simple "bonjour" and a charming smile go a long way. It helps to show your appreciation and respect for the city and its people, and they'll return the favour with Parisian charm!

Paris: Always a Delight

Every visit to Paris reminds me why I love this city so much. It’s full of romance, adventure, a unique sense of style, and so many places to make memories. Of course, you all know I couldn't have come to Paris without bringing back a little piece of this beautiful city with me. A delicate pink feather boa, a beret with a beautiful lace detail, and a whimsical little Parisian-themed keychain for my pink tutu handbag - you can never have enough accessories, right?

Until next time, mon chérie, stay fabulous!

**Yours always,

Emma**
