Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another post on the ol’ www.pink-tutu.com! It’s always a pleasure to share my adventures with you all.
As you know, my little pink-tutu-loving heart is forever drawn to new and exciting places. And let me tell you, Prague has not disappointed! This enchanting city is truly a sight to behold, filled with cobbled streets, stunning architecture, and a cultural vibrancy that dances right through you.
I arrived just yesterday, after a gloriously scenic train journey from Derbyshire. It seems like forever since I last stepped foot on a train - but oh, what a joy! There's something so wonderfully romantic about gazing out the window as the landscape whisks by, watching the world blur into a charming tapestry of fields, forests, and towns. I even spotted a cheeky little pony grazing by the side of the tracks - wouldn’t that be a magical mode of transport, a pink tutu-clad ballerina riding through the countryside on a pony? Oh, how I dream!
But enough of the whimsical journey, let's talk about the main event, the reason for this entire Prague escapade! As you know, my love for ballet knows no bounds - from studying its history to indulging in its beauty, my heart simply melts for its elegant grace and exquisite storytelling. So when I heard about a particularly dazzling performance in Prague, I knew I had to be there.
Today, I’m off to the beautiful National Theatre in Prague! Now, it's a grand, historical building, brimming with architectural detail and stories waiting to be uncovered. They are presenting a triple bill this evening:
- "The Nutcracker". What better way to start this ballet bonanza than with a timeless classic? Tchaikovsky’s magical music and the captivating story of Clara and the Nutcracker always warms my soul. The sugarplum fairy costumes - are they not just to die for? They have become a ballet staple that will forever inspire and spark dreams.
- "Giselle" , a tragic tale of love and heartbreak, which I absolutely adore. I always get swept away by the drama of Giselle’s tragic love for Albrecht. The ballet, which explores themes of deception, betrayal, and love, is known for its expressive dancing and beautiful romantic story.
- "Swan Lake". The grand finale of the evening, a breathtaking tale of the Swan Princess who is trapped under a spell cast by the evil sorcerer, von Rothbart. With its unforgettable music, stunning scenery and its poignant theme of good versus evil - it is surely to be a wonderful end to an unforgettable evening of dance. The tutus, with their feathers and soft layers of tulle…I dream of owning a pair!
Oh, I can barely contain my excitement! Before the performance I have a very special lunch appointment, so I must go. But fret not my darlings! There will be plenty more about my exciting Prague trip in next week's blog post, as this trip will also involve some exciting shopping sprees, and delicious Czech treats.
Keep your tutu’s tucked in, until next Wednesday - until then, don’t forget to dream big and dance often!
