Hello lovelies! Itās Emma here, back with another pinktastic blog post, this time straight from the heart of Prague! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly Prague blog - grab your favourite pink beverage, and let's get whisked away!
Last week was all about the delights of Vienna, Austria - and my divine Viennese ballet performance that truly stole my heart (and raised enough funds for my Prague train journey!). The Austrian capital really knows how to throw a gala, with stunning architecture and those delicious pastriesā¦but enough about last week, darlings! Prague is calling, and I'm ready to explore!
Arriving in Prague with Pink-Tinted GlassesAfter a perfectly smooth (and of course, pink-hued) train journey from Vienna, I arrived in Prague. Oh my! My first impressions were simply magical - a captivating cityscape adorned with spires, cobblestone streets, and a whimsical air that set my pink tutu aflutter! I knew immediately this place was going to steal a piece of my heart.
Prague truly is the city of a hundred spires, and I couldn't resist hopping off the train in my finest pink ensemble, of course, a beautiful, swirling pink tutu! I simply had to soak in the atmosphere and get that perfect Insta-shot for all of you! And trust me, lovelies, the lighting in Prague was divine! The buildings, all bathed in the soft golden glow of the setting sun, provided the perfect backdrop for my very first Prague pink tutu twirl.
Prague's Ballet CharmMy pink tutu heart skipped a beat when I discovered the stunning National Theatre in Prague - oh, the stories it whispers! This architectural masterpiece is adorned with delicate, sculpted figures that would make any ballet dancer's imagination soar! But letās get down to businessā¦it's time for the real magic, darlings!
The 18th of March saw me attending the Prague National Theatreās enchanting production of "Swan Lake"! Oh, how I adore the ballet, the timeless grace and powerful emotions expressed through dance are utterly captivating. This particular rendition of "Swan Lake" left me speechless, the ballerina's portrayal of both the ethereal Swan Queen and the alluring Black Swan was exquisite, the dancers truly embodied the essence of this classic. Every delicate arabesque, every sweeping pirouette⦠Pure poetry in motion. The theatre itself was magnificent - the plush, red velvet seats felt like they whispered secrets from the era of the first ballet performances.
Speaking of which⦠after the show, I couldn't resist indulging in a delightful historical detour! The National Theatre, built in the late 19th century, actually has quite the intriguing history. Did you know the original structure was nearly torn down because of political tensions, but fortunately, the people of Prague rose up and demanded its preservation? This cityās rich history, with its artistic spirit interwoven through the fabric of society, has made a real impact on meā¦and I am definitely inspired.
Finding the Pinkest of Pastries (And Pragueās Must-Haves)What would a trip to Prague be without indulging in the delectable local treats, right? I had to go straight to my first local "cukrĆ”rna" (bakery)! A symphony of sugar-spun dreams awaited me with delicate pastry displays. Of course, being a pink-tutu enthusiast, my eyes fell immediately upon the strawberry cream puff! Oh, it was pure heaven. Imagine: delicate puff pastry, filled to bursting with sweet, pink strawberry cream. A moment of bliss! And for those of you with a penchant for pink, donāt miss out on the famous āgingerbread heartsā ā oh so adorable and beautifully pink, they truly are the epitome of Prague sweetness!
And darling, speaking of sugar-spun dreams, my shopping haul in Prague has truly been out of this world! This cityās markets are bursting with treasuresā¦think handcrafted jewelry, dainty vintage trinkets, and the most adorable ballet-themed souvenirs, I just had to snag a miniature ballerina statuette as a memento of my pink ballet adventure in Prague!
Oh, and there are also all the chic boutiques offering up the latest trends, but with a whimsical, almost theatrical touch! And for the most glamorous evening wear⦠letās just say Prague has given me a newfound appreciation for Czech designers - those elegant, hand-sewn dresses will undoubtedly feature in my future pink-tutu inspired creations!
Pony Rides through Prague? Absolutely! Now, Prague is such a delightful city to explore that a trusty old pink tutu-wearing ballerina needs a trusty set of wheels, right? Luckily, Prague has a truly wonderful way to embrace a different kind of āperformanceā!
I'm talking about a little trip on Pragueās enchanting pink āprague-horse-cartsā. Yes, you heard that right, a true royal experience! Itās no secret that I love a little bit of fairytale fantasy, and with the picturesque setting of the Charles Bridge as a backdrop, the horse-drawn carriage offered a perfectly romantic, fairy tale experience. Just imagine⦠gliding across the cobbles in my pink tutu, with the cobblestone streets resonating with the steady rhythm of the horseās hoovesā¦pure perfection!
And to make things even more fabulous, the carriage took me to the magnificent Prague Castle! Iāve simply never seen anything like it ā a magnificent mix of gothic spires, golden roofs, and an overall sense of regal history! You could almost hear echoes of medieval pageantry in the air ā perfect for a princess (or a ballerina) like me, wouldn't you agree?
A Pink Tutu Love Letter to PragueAs I sit here writing this post, the gentle clink of the tram against the cobblestones is the soundtrack to my evening. The sunset is painting the city with fiery orange and purple hues⦠and you know, lovelies, Prague has really taken my breath away. I never imagined such an artistic spirit could live and breathe within the heart of a city⦠I simply adore its cultural heart!
Now, itās time for a delicious, traditional Czech meal, all washed down with a lovely pink lemonade! And perhaps even a quick whirl in a local park with the music of a street performer providing a delightful soundtrack for a pink-tutu balletic solo... Oh, to be a pink-tutu enthusiast in Prague, a magical combination if ever there was one!
Join me again next week for another fabulous adventure, as I continue to discover all that Prague has to offer, and letās be real, all that pink has to offer! Donāt forget to follow me on Instagram (@pinktutu_travels) for daily updates and behind-the-scenes looks into all things pink!
