Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, your Pink Tutu Princess, and I'm back with another fabulous adventure, straight from the heart of Prague!
I’ve always been a bit of a train girl. The rhythmic click-clack, the charming scenery flashing past – it’s just pure magic, and a perfect way to start any adventure, especially one in such a beautiful country as the Czech Republic. But hold on, you wouldn't believe the next stage of my journey!
After the train journey, I got to experience the charm of a carriage ride through the Czech countryside. Yes, a carriage ride! Pulled by a gorgeous, fluffy white pony, it was like something out of a fairy tale. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, and the world was just brimming with that delightful, pre-show excitement you feel on a day that’s set to be wonderful!
Prague welcomed me with open arms and a delightful sense of history that tingled through my toes, almost like a soft pointe shoe tapping on a polished floor! It was like stepping into a fairytale book, with charming cobbled streets, colourful buildings, and a whole heap of charm!
Of course, my heart was already dancing with the promise of all the beautiful ballet I'd be witnessing. You see, darling, Prague holds a very special place in the world of ballet. This is a city that truly celebrates dance – a city where tutus reign supreme. And for me, there’s nothing quite like getting caught up in a beautiful performance. This trip is about far more than a pink tutu though… it's about experiencing this special city's magic!
After dropping my bags off at a beautifully old, characterful hotel, the scent of jasmine and lavender swirling in the air as I walked in, I simply HAD to explore this fabulous city.
You see, darling, my love affair with tutus goes way beyond ballet! You might have heard me go on about the history of the tutu, and its many wonderful forms - and, well, this passion, combined with my love of vintage style, means that antique and vintage shops just send my heart a flutter!
In Prague, the shopping was absolute HEAVEN. You wouldn’t believe the array of gorgeous vintage dresses, vintage jewellery, and even vintage tutus that I discovered nestled among the shops! I snagged myself a beautiful vintage piece: a delicate, lacey, pastel pink blouse, that was so wonderfully perfect I knew it was meant to be. It even had the faintest aroma of jasmine, which added to its magic.
But shopping wasn't the only thing I got up to in Prague. I wandered the city's enchanting alleyways, visited the breathtaking Charles Bridge, soaked up the atmosphere of Prague Castle and watched the city come alive with light and colour during an enchanting sunset over the Vltava river.
But, of course, the true star of the show in Prague was the ballet!
I found myself at the stunning National Theatre, one of Europe’s most beautiful, historical, and impressive buildings, dating right back to the late 19th century. My anticipation bubbled over, because the legendary Bolshoi Ballet Company was performing there! And oh, my dears, this was truly a performance I’ll never forget!
I arrived early, soaking up the beautiful ambiance in the plush lobby. There were couples all dressed up to the nines, chattering in excitement. And, of course, no matter how much time has passed, I'll never get tired of admiring all those beautifully crafted ballet shoes, and the grace of each ballerina's soft, silken tutu swirling past, the elegant sheen of pink reflecting the chandelier’s glow! It just feels like a magic spell is cast each time!
And, wow! I mean, when the curtain finally rose and the first notes of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, “Swan Lake,” floated out, I just felt myself get pulled into the story! I sat there mesmerised, not even blinking as I was swept away to the magical world of the ballet. Every gesture, every movement, every fluttering tutu was utterly captivating. It was like the heart of ballet itself was pounding within this historic theater! And that amazing, breathtaking ending - simply unforgettable!
Beyond the theatre...
And Prague wasn’t all just about fancy dress and classical ballets! I even went on an absolutely magical horseback ride through the rolling hills, followed by a delicious picnic amongst the wildflowers – pure heaven!
As we galloped along, I felt a wave of sheer happiness sweep over me, watching the sun stream down and a symphony of birdsong swirling all around. I felt such gratitude for this journey and this magical time.
Of course, my journey is not all about me, dear reader! My pink tutu is not a solo act. The Pink Tutu Project is all about spreading a bit of joy and that love of ballet and everything feminine, whether you're a budding ballerina or just enjoy the pure, whimsical magic of a beautiful tutu.
This was more than just another ballet journey - it was a time for rediscovering that special feeling of joy in everything! Every twisty, charming cobblestone, every little cobweb draped beautifully across the windows of the historic houses, the colourful flowers in every shop window – even the taste of the hot chocolate and sweet pastries I indulged in… all of it, combined, felt like an amazing ballet. Every moment seemed like an enchanting, swirling sequence of exquisite choreography – my own private performance of pure, whimsical delight!
As the sun dipped behind Prague Castle, and I took one last walk through the old town square, with the beautiful architecture casting shadows, I knew I had fallen deeply in love with this city, as much as I have with all those enchanting, whimsical, feminine things that make life so rich. I left feeling lighter than a feather, with a huge, overflowing heart of love for all that I had seen.
Next week, dear readers, I'll be telling you all about my ballet escapade to Italy – a land I have long admired! My trusty travel bag is already packed and my pointe shoes are shining brightly! I’ll see you there!
And until next week, I implore you to embrace your own love for all things whimsical, stylish, and beautiful! Embrace your inner ballet dancer! And, yes, dear readers… maybe consider taking that step you've been thinking about for so long – even if it's just for an hour, join a class, get yourself a beautiful, feminine pink tutu, and simply enjoy the delightful magic of a pirouette. You’ll be surprised by how much joy you can find!
Now, go out there and make a fabulous day for yourself! And, most importantly, make a statement – with a splash of pink, and, yes, a lovely, magical tutu, of course.
Yours in pink,
Emma xoxo
