Ciao bella! It's Emma here, back with you from the stunning city of Rome. Christmas Eve has descended on the Eternal City, and I'm brimming with excitement! I just have to share my Roman adventures with you, my lovely pink tutu-wearing family!
You know me, I can't resist a trip, and I certainly can't resist a bit of Christmas magic. This year, I'm channeling my inner "The Nutcracker" with a deliciously pink tutu and a sprinkle of Christmas sparkle, as I sashay my way through the charming streets of Rome.
Now, it's not often I get to Rome during the Christmas season, and I must say, this city takes Christmas cheer to a whole new level. Imagine strolling through cobbled streets twinkling with festive lights, the air buzzing with the melodies of carolers, and the irresistible aroma of freshly baked panettone wafting from every charming corner... pure holiday bliss!
This week, my heart is particularly set on experiencing the iconic Christmas markets. I've heard whispers of a delightful Christmas market tucked away in Campo de' Fiori, with charming stalls selling handcrafted goodies, warming cups of Vin Brulé, and the most mouthwatering Christmas treats. And of course, I'm hoping to snag a few treasures for my "Pink Tutu Rome" collection – imagine, a pink velvet Christmas ornament or maybe even a tiny ballet dancer with a tutu the shade of candy floss!
Speaking of treasures, one of my favorite pastimes is unearthing hidden gems – the "secret" vintage shops and fashion boutiques of Rome. Today, my hunt led me to a tucked-away vintage store overflowing with glamorous garments from the '50s. It felt like a time capsule filled with stylish dreams, and you know I couldn't resist adding a few pieces to my wardrobe. One particular vintage cocktail dress, a stunning coral colour with a touch of delicate beading, is begging to be twirled in – I'll have to share a picture on my Instagram (@PinkTutuEmma) – you just know it's a perfect match for my pink tutu!
While I absolutely adore exploring all the iconic landmarks like the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain, I can't resist getting lost in the captivating lanes of the Trastevere neighborhood. The ambiance is incredible, with traditional Roman trattorias, charming little cafes, and artists setting up their easels for impromptu portraits. Today, I discovered a local ballet school tucked away in one of those charming laneways – it's almost enough to make me consider a class! But for now, my pink tutu is enjoying a delicious pastry in the shadow of a majestic ancient building!
One thing I've always loved about Italy, especially Rome, is the emphasis on food and family. Christmas here is no exception. Just imagining sitting with loved ones over a table brimming with steaming plates of tortellini in brodo, rich panettone, and fragrant hot chocolate – the simple pleasures of the season! I may be a solo traveller this trip, but that doesn't stop me from finding ways to celebrate with the locals and absorb the vibrant Italian Christmas spirit. I've already planned a visit to a local restaurant, chosen for its festive atmosphere and heartwarming atmosphere.
I can already imagine a bustling room adorned with Christmas lights, families laughing together, and perhaps a live musician setting the festive mood. The beauty of travelling, even during the festive season, is that it opens your heart to new experiences and unexpected connections. And believe me, there’s a sprinkle of that Pink Tutu magic here in Rome.
The city feels incredibly magical with all the Christmas decorations. Today, I spotted a shop window filled with stunning pink tutus. They weren’t exactly what I’d be wearing on stage but they were so delightfully Christmas-y! I simply had to have one! It will be a perfect souvenir of my Christmas trip to Rome!
