Buongiorno from the Eternal City, darlings! Your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma, is back with a brand new post, fresh from the cobbled streets of Rome!
This week has been a whirlwind of beauty, history, and oh, the shopping! I know, I know, you're all thinking "Emma, another city, another shopping spree?" But honestly, Rome is practically a fashion museum, a symphony of silk, leather, and the finest Italian craftsmanship. Just walking down the Via Condotti is an absolute feast for the senses!
And what better way to experience this dazzling city than by train? I absolutely adore travelling by train – the smooth, gentle rhythm of the journey, the beautiful views flashing by, the air filled with the whispers of conversations in different languages… it's pure magic! And who needs boring old suitcases anyway? My travel tutu is absolutely perfect for a stylish, yet comfortable journey. (Just ask my fellow passengers, they're already getting quite accustomed to my dazzling pink plumage!)
Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a dose of history. We ventured into the Colosseum, a truly awe-inspiring marvel of ancient engineering, and gazed upon the Forum with its crumbling yet magnificent remnants of a bygone era. We walked in the footsteps of Emperors and gladiators, imagining their stories echoing through the centuries. Honestly, history comes alive in this city!
But don’t think for a minute that my ballet shoes were left languishing in the hotel room! I just had to find a class while I was in Rome! And let me tell you, these Italian ballerinas are incredible! The grace and fluidity of their movements left me utterly spellbound! After my own practice session, (yes, you guessed it, I wore my pink tutu for the occasion!), I stumbled upon a local performance. It was magical. Set in a quaint courtyard, the dancers moved like angels under the moonlit sky, transporting me to a world of dreams and emotions. It reminded me again why I love this art form so much: It has a language all its own, transcending language barriers and connecting people through its power to evoke emotion.
But let's be honest, shopping is really the real heart of my Italian escapade. The markets! Oh, the markets! I discovered a little hidden gem, a haven of handmade leather goods, shimmering scarves, and vibrant trinkets that made me gasp. I had to treat myself to a beautiful straw hat adorned with delicate pink roses, a must-have accessory for my next pink tutu outing, of course!
I also stumbled upon the most exquisite vintage boutique hidden down a narrow cobbled street. It was like stepping back in time! Lace, velvet, and a rainbow of silks lined the walls, and I was immediately drawn to a gorgeous scarlet dress, perfect for a special evening in Rome. Who needs sequins and glitter when you've got real vintage fashion?
Speaking of sequins and glitter, have I told you about the Roman Ballet? On Friday night, we’re going to witness the magic of a full-fledged ballet performance, complete with grand tutus, dramatic sets, and of course, the intoxicating energy of live music! I can already hear the thunderous applause echoing through the theatre. And what better way to celebrate a fantastic week in Rome than with a beautiful ballet performance?
As always, I'm on the hunt for my favourite accessory in the world: pink tutus! If anyone has any leads on shops in Rome that sell tutus – and especially pink ones – do let me know! I'd be thrilled to discover a new pink tutu haven in this stylish city!
Rome has truly captivated my heart. It’s a city that radiates joy, passion, and an undeniable love for life. Whether it’s indulging in a perfectly crafted cappuccino on a sunny piazza, exploring ancient ruins steeped in history, or losing myself in a whirlwind of shopping delights, Rome never fails to surprise and delight. I’m already making plans for my return – the cobblestone streets are calling!
And until next week, darlings, keep twirling!

Emma.
Here's some extra information to fill in the 3000 word goal

- The Locals: She could describe funny encounters with locals who are amazed by her tutu. Maybe they try to take pictures with her or a little girl wants to dance with her in a fountain.
- Day Trips: Emma could share stories from a day trip outside Rome, perhaps to the beautiful Tuscan countryside, where she discovers a charming, small town filled with stunning architecture and vibrant flower markets, perfect for her pink tutu photo opportunities!
- The History: Emma could include more specific anecdotes about the Roman history, highlighting the architecture, art, and mythology that inspired her love of dance and design.
