Pink Tutu Rome: #1619 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao Bella!

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another dose of pink tutu goodness from the heart of Rome! This week, my heart is fluttering with the sheer excitement of exploring this historical beauty. Imagine my delight: cobbled streets, gelato dripping down my chin, and the echoing hum of Vespas weaving through ancient ruins – pure magic!

Rome, you have completely stolen my heart! From the moment I hopped off that sleek Italian train (I must admit, I was rather delighted to find the carriages decorated in floral prints!), I've been mesmerized by this city’s vibrant energy. Even my pink tutu has been treated to a series of envious glances – Rome seems to embrace a touch of whimsy just as much as I do!

Speaking of pink tutus, they seem to be working their magic even in Rome! While strolling through the vibrant Campo de' Fiori marketplace (a must-visit, my dears!), I caught a glimpse of a charming lady sporting a dusky rose pink top paired with a delicate gold necklace. Now, it may not have been a full-on tutu moment, but I like to believe I’m inspiring a generation to embrace a bit more colour in their wardrobes!

The air here in Rome feels charged with artistic energy, which just fuels my passion for all things ballet! And speaking of, I couldn't resist grabbing a ticket to a ballet show at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Now, I have to admit, there’s nothing quite like watching world-class dancers swirling gracefully beneath a magnificent chandelier – the costumes, the music, the sheer passion… it takes my breath away every single time.

For a real taste of Roman life, a delightful friend recommended that I take a ballet class in the heart of Trastevere. The studio was absolutely charming, filled with laughter and the soft melodies of warm-up exercises. There was a certain vibrancy and sense of community, and, naturally, a bit of pink tutu action in the corner, as I encouraged a few fellow students to step out of their comfort zones!

When you're in Rome, it’s only natural to get lost in the captivating charm of its historical sights. Yesterday, I found myself wandering through the Colosseum, mesmerized by the sheer grandeur and stories whispered from its weathered stone. Every step seemed to carry me back through time. Later that evening, I was rewarded with a beautiful sunset overlooking the Pantheon - a stunning masterpiece of architectural ingenuity and a fittingly magical end to my day.

However, no visit to Rome would be complete without indulging in a little retail therapy, would it? And I must say, my pink tutu feels rather happy with the spoils of the journey! The Via Condotti has simply been a haven of Italian fashion – from luxurious leather goods to delicate scarves and the most charming trinkets you could ever imagine. And, of course, no Rome adventure is complete without picking up a beautiful pink scarf to remember this beautiful city by.

But more than shopping, I'm drawn to the little gems hidden in the backstreets. Yesterday, I stumbled upon a little family-run store that showcased a curated selection of handmade ceramic plates and colourful trinkets. Each one was more exquisite than the last, and I couldn't resist bringing home a few treasures to remind me of my Italian adventures.

Don't worry, dear readers, this whirlwind romance with Rome has not dulled my passion for ballet. In fact, my travels here have inspired me in ways I hadn’t imagined! Witnessing the passion and artistry that breathes within every corner of Rome – it's simply captivating! From street performers busking their hearts out in Piazza Navona to local children pirouetting through their playful games, I've found inspiration in the most unexpected of places.

This incredible city has truly awakened something within me, something beyond even my deepest pink tutu desires! Maybe it's the endless artistic beauty surrounding me, or perhaps the warmth of the Italian people, or perhaps it’s the sheer delight of sipping cappuccino on a cobblestone street while watching the world pass by... whatever it is, I'm simply enthralled.

This is not goodbye, Rome. I'll be back for more adventures, and you can bet your bottom pink tutu, this ballerina will be returning!

Until next Wednesday, my dearest pink tutu tribe. I’ll leave you with this thought: Life is a performance, and you deserve a standing ovation! So put on your most dazzling smile, a touch of pink, and twirl your way through the week!

A quick glance at what's happening on this date

The Italian National Day! We all celebrate Republic Day here, marking the founding of the Italian Republic on June 2nd, 1946! The air is filled with joy and national pride, and the streets come alive with beautiful flags, vibrant street food stalls, and colourful parade performances. And, as a fellow traveller, I was fortunate enough to witness an incredible display of local dancers swirling in their elegant attire to mark this important day. Talk about a magical experience!

Keep your tutus twirling,

Emma
