Stockport Calling! TutuQueen’s Adventures in Pink Continue…

Post number: 9324

Welcome back, darlings, to the world of Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things pink, glittery, and tutu-licious! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the delightful town of Stockport, where the air smells of chip shop delights and the cobbled streets are just begging to be twirled upon in a shimmering pink tulle creation.

This week, I've embarked on a magical adventure that's filled my heart with joy and my wardrobe with more sparkles than you could shake a feather boa at. Buckle up, dears, as I take you on a journey through the land of… well, pink, of course!

But before we get lost in the delightful world of my Stockport escapades, let's catch up on my recent travels, shall we? It’s all been so thrilling!

Last week, I found myself in the heart of the capital, London, gracing a quirky cabaret at a pub near Covent Garden. The stage lights felt like little rainbows raining down on me, and the cheers from the crowd echoed my own inner delight as I shimmied in my cherry-red tutu and sang a heart-melting ballad about the joy of a perfect strawberry milkshake. (You can't get better than that, can you? It's one of my signature songs, the one where my voice really comes out. 😉 ) But it wasn’t all dancing and performing for me - my beloved friend Daphne joined me for some afternoon tea at The Ritz, where I was delighted to discover a delectable pink macaron that matched my feather boa perfectly! It was pure magic.

After London, I decided to escape the city bustle and head back to my beloved countryside. The train ride across Derbyshire was an absolute dream! I found a comfy carriage (naturally, the pinkest one!), tucked into my book about ballet history, and gazed at the rolling green fields as the sun dipped behind the hills. It's such a calming moment to disconnect from the digital world and simply appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Speaking of beauty, I had to share a little secret with you: a little birdy told me that I have been shortlisted for a prestigious drag award in London! Now, let’s just say the world knows, if my new feather boa does… I can’t tell you any more!. But let’s just say I’m feeling so grateful to be in this world, sharing my passion for performing with so many talented individuals. And the best part? It has been giving me a fantastic excuse to splurge on some brand new sparkles. It would be rude to show up to an awards show in the same outfit, wouldn't it? The new collection will be up on Pink-Tutu.com as soon as the sparkles settle!

And so, my lovelies, my train ride landed me safely back in Derbyshire, where I finally found myself in the wonderful world of Stockport. Oh my goodness! What a welcome! Stockport’s just full of charming little shops and cafes with cobblestone streets that you could spend hours exploring.

Now, Stockport was more of a day trip than a weekend getaway this time around. The real reason for my visit, the jewel in the crown of my Stockport adventure, was a wonderful visit to Stockport Ballet School! You could say it was like coming home – a return to the source! This visit brought back many fond memories of my student days, back when I started on the path of wearing a pink tutu! I remember trying one on for the first time when I was studying science – in those days I would be a long way from my future career as a drag artist! But in a way, all roads lead to Pink Tutu Sparkles and the day I wore that tutu…

So here I was in the Stockport ballet studios, chatting with the students (most of them about a tenth my age!). One little angel, named Bethany, told me her ambition was to become a famous ballerina like Sylvie Guillem! I was so inspired. There was so much talent bubbling away at the Stockport School, and so much enthusiasm, it was heartwarming to watch these bright young dancers. The joy of dance – what a wonderful way to connect to people!

Naturally, I had to share some of my signature TutuQueen moves with the students, but my performance took a slight detour! One little student – she couldn’t have been more than four! – was so overcome by her delight and the whole ‘sparkly-pink-tutu-wonderland’ of my show she started to… cry? Turns out she was missing her Mum and my shimmering show was just too much. Oh my gosh!

To be honest, it made me a little tearful, too. A moment of magic gone slightly off the rails, so it's important to always be ready with a plan B, in this instance – ‘mum and teddy’. (Not really the usual performance routine but then it never is with these adorable ballet pupils). Luckily, we found ‘mummy’ right in time (it’s always better with a happy ending)! I managed to wrangle ‘mum’ into an impromptu duet with me as I took on the ‘role’ of ‘fairy godmother’, transforming the little one from a tearful tyke into a magical creature (and she absolutely loved the whole fairy-godmother costume! Even when it involved feathers, and she is clearly feathers-averse). It's not everyday that your drag performance doubles up as a mini therapy session for the child-sized drama queens out there, but who doesn't love a story with a happy ending?

And speaking of stories, I just have to share with you a delicious slice of the latest chapter in the story of ‘Pink-Tutu’, A big announcement: I'm thrilled to announce that I've written my very first blog post! Oh my gosh, writing it felt so freeing! You see I’m very shy (if you can believe that in my TutuQueen guise), and blogging had been a little out of reach. So writing about myself, as myself… it’s really stretching me, but in the best way possible!

And my blog’s gone ‘live’ on my favourite blog-based website: www.pink-tutu.com! Do visit if you’ve a moment.

Now, my adventure in Stockport was filled with some wonderfully magical encounters. The town was awash with vibrant street art – it's like a technicolour dream. (Oh, I must tell you - Stockport’s ‘Red Lion Pub’ has the most magical collection of colourful little umbrellas all dangling above the tables; you must see it when you’re here).

And so it's time for me to say "farewell" to my beloved Stockport. The world awaits. As my darling readers already know, a new week brings with it another adventure, another opportunity to spread the love of pink and tutus. And if you've ever found yourself feeling a little down, a little grey, a little lost… well, dear ones, I’m sure you know just what to do: pull on your very best pink tutu and twirl your worries away! I just know that once you do, you'll see the world a little more brightly, and life will seem a little more sparkling, more vibrant, more… magical.

And let's just be clear, always let the feather boa speak for itself!

Until next time, keep sparkling my darling TutuQueens, and don’t forget… Pink always reigns supreme!
