Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to take you on another sparkly adventure. Today, we’re whisking ourselves off to the charming town of Welling! I mean, it's not quite the grandest city in the world, but who can say no to a trip to anywhere when you're on the hunt for more fabulous finds? Especially when you’ve got a train ticket to get you there and a pair of trusty riding boots to take you round. Oh! and of course my trusty, trusty tutu - how could I even begin to think about stepping out without one of those, pink, sparkling and magnificent?
Welling may be best known for being in the lovely, London borough of Bexley, but darling, this place is brimming with hidden gems. For a gal like me, with a love for all things twirly and glamorous, there are few better destinations.
First things first: Shopping! There's something absolutely enchanting about delving into the vintage stores around Welling, where you never know what treasures you'll stumble upon. I, of course, always make a beeline for anything that shimmers. My latest discovery was a sequined vest in the most fabulous shade of flamingo pink. Imagine, darling, that shade against a background of fluffy pink tulle! I practically bought the entire shop before my sensible little scientist side kicked in ( yes, by day, I’m just your average lab rat!).
But it wasn’t all sequins and glitter. As you know, I’m a real ballerina at heart (a bit more twirl than leaps, perhaps!), so a visit to Welling was just an excuse to get my pink tutu into some proper training! A few weeks back, I went on a lovely horse ride through the beautiful countryside around here, and of course I had to slip on my favourite tutus (it wouldn’t be right, now would it, to ride a horse in any other attire? ). I then booked myself a few ballet classes at the fantastic Dance Academy in the town, which just happens to have a lovely, vintage shop attached - perfect for sourcing the most fabulous pair of dancing shoes, darling!
On the first day, I arrived, as you’d expect, in all my glittery glory, my bright pink tutu flowing as I pranced along the pavements. I did get a few funny looks from the local shoppers, darling! A few said, 'Ooh! How fabulous! ‘ and some shouted, ‘Good luck with the show!” Well, one can’t please everyone, but as my dearest Grandma would say, “A little attention is better than none at all!”
Now, of course, I had to enjoy the local delicacies while I was here. We have, in the UK, such fantastic pubs, haven't we? The Welling’s Inn provided some great pub food (and I did slip in a cheeky dessert! A little something special just to reward myself, you understand.). My tastebuds went to absolute heaven with the delightful, hearty meals on offer.
And just before I left town, I treated myself to the real highlight of this trip – a beautiful evening at the stunning Broadway Theatre. They’re famous for their performances - the one I saw had me utterly enthralled, darling. All the drama, the beautiful costuming, and the fantastic talent! Honestly, I almost went 'Pink Tutu Sparkles' on the audience during a particularly dramatic scene! They did, of course, have the traditional intermission, and wouldn’t you know it, a sweet stall right by the exit. I had to indulge, couldn't leave without the tiniest (I’m telling you, it was so tiny) cup of their fabulous strawberry ice-cream!
Welling turned out to be the perfect pitstop for a pink-tutu-loving soul like me. The local friendly people (everyone is so much nicer when they’re in pink, I find!), the incredible scenery, the fascinating shops, the amazing food, and those incredible dance performances. Darling, I've found myself another spot to put on my 'Places to Tutu' list! Now, who wants to hear about next week’s adventures…
Now, as always, remember:
Wear it Loud and Wear it Proud!

Pink Tutu Sparkles,
